Is early June better than August?

our last two disney vacations occurred in august of 2007, and then again, just last week (sept. 29th and 30th).

although i found the crowds in late september to be heavier than what i expected, they were still obviously lighter than when we went in mid august last year.

my oldest child graduates from high school june 1st. and of course, being the disney fanatic that she is, wants to spend the following week at disneyland.

the 1st is a monday. it takes us two days to drive to anaheim from here. and then we have a big graduation dinner/celebration thing to plan and pull off with our friends and family in southern california. so, even though i wanted to, i can't plan any of the DLR time for that first week of june. it looks like it will be june 8th through june 12th....a monday through friday.

does anybody happen to know if we might be lucky enough to encounter lighter crowds during that week then during say, mid august? many of our friends and family live in SoCal and their kids don't get out of school until mid june or a little later.

also, are we likely to encounter some "june gloom" in anaheim? i'm from ventura, and i know we always had it there, but that's a lot closer to the beach.

i can't schedule this trip at any other time, and am just really hoping to not have to face insane crowds and temps above about 85.

help! somebody? anybody?

For early June, the forecast temps will probably have highs in the 70's. But it'll feel more like the 80's and possibly evem 90's in the parks. However, it'll probably be slightly more tolerable during the day than August. And it should cool down nicely at night.

Not sure about crowd levels though. Summer months are hit and miss, in my opinion.

But if I had to go in either June or August, I'd probably take June.

Crowds should be lighter that week than mid-August. One thing to realize, though, is that the Park will probably close early on one or two nights for Grad Night. This year, for example, Disneyland closed at 9:00PM on both Wednesday and Thursday during the second week of June.

As for June Gloom: Yes, it can effect Anaheim. But this year it was pretty light, so who knows what next year will be like? Regardless, temps in mid-June rarely get higher than the mid-80's.

Definitely June. You could get lucky and we could have some good JUNE GLOOM days.
Whatever you do, stay away from DLR in the beginning of July. The crowds aren't the issue. It is hot and humid!!!!
I really never notice the crowds anymore cuz I go so often. I love to people watch and meet people from out-of-town. That is fun too.:thumbsup2

thanks so much for the replies everyone!!! they are so helpful!

thanks littlewoodenhead for the reminder about grad night days and early closure. i had totally spaced that. i'm not thrilled about it, but since i have no options as far as scheduling is concerned, i'm glad i know about it now, rather than right before the trip. thanks again!

We often go to Disneyland at that time of year. The crowds haven't seemed to bad to me. It did start to get crowded during the afternoon so we would go back to our hotel. As far as the weather... I thought it was great the times we were there. In the low to mid 80's and cool as soon as the sun starting going down. I've lived in the midwest for many years, but grew up in Ventura so I didn't think it was humid at all. Or atleast not compared to Missouri.
