I haven't been a member long enough to really comment, but my only regrets and remaining question marks stem from the fact that I jumped into it on a whim while on an awesome vacation. I believed everything my guide said ("It's a slam dunk!") and only later realized that it is a good deal for some, an ok deal for many, and a bad deal for some too. There are pluses and minuses to everything, but I bought the pluses hook, line and sinker when I went on the tour. I remember leaving that meeting thinking that it would pay for itself in a few years, which it won't. I remember thinking that the perks were going to transform my vacation experience, which they won't.
In the end, I am just happy that I can afford to be part of it and that my family now feels a bit of ownership at our favorite vacation place in the world. Many people I know have a beach house. We can't afford a second home, and we wouldn't necessarily want one at the beach even if we could. Our friends love the beach, but we love Disney. So, for us, the opportunity to own a little piece of the mouse was too good to be true.
