Is DVC right for me? What would you do?

Thank you folks for the great advice on this board. After noodling on this for a while, I decided to pull the trigger and offer on an AKV contract. Fingers crossed!! Either way, I’ve decided to jump in!!!

Appreciate all the wise words. Thank you!
Best of luck to you. Animal Kingdom is a lovely resort!

I don't care for AKL at all so will give you my share of it. That way, you'll get double the enjoyment. <sassy wink>

Seriously, good luck on dodging the ROFR demon. Hoping with you we'll soon be saying, " 'Grats and Welcome Home!"

Haha! I’ll take it. Thank you!

I don’t suppose there’s any way for a non owner to check availability is there? Would love to test this out

I'm not sure what it costs to join (we got a free membership with a DVC resale purchase thru a broker or I think it's like $6/month) but www.unlockedmagic.com has an availability tool that works pretty well.
Or just use this for free: https://tools.dvcvacations.com/points-calculator
I used to use it a lot before I was an owner.

This free one appears to be the same one as Unlocked Magic offers. They might "update" at different times, but should give you a good idea of activity if you look at them for a few days - be sure not to make a decision based on just one point in time, availability cycles if you watch the same week or two for a while.

The unlocked magic one is a little bit better than this - it tells you exactly HOW MANY are left in that category which can be immensely valuable.

The dvc reservations link is great! Thank you!!

I’m browsing on my phone and completely skipped the legend. I scrolled down and thought that it was displaying only confirmed reservations - a lot of which didn’t match my date (obviously)!

I might sign up for an account on unlocked magic.

Thank you!

Hey folks. I have a question on the purchase process and haven’t gotten an answer back from the broker.

We (and sellers) completed signing a week ago. The deposit was taken on Monday.

What happens next? And when? Do I get notified when the contract goes to ROFR?

I know it can take 30+ days from here. I’d like to know when it gets sent of course.

Thanks!

The broker should have notified you that it was sent to ROFR. I know everyone has been swamped with the recent resale frenzy, but the process of sending the contract to Disney for ROFR is electronic and takes the broker literally no time at all to do, so there's really no "backlog" excuse for not sending it over. They usually get sent the next day after everything is received. With the speed of current ROFR passes, with some coming back in as quickly as three days, I'd be looking to hear back from Disney by Monday or Tuesday, not waiting to hear if it's even been sent.

Who was/is your broker?

Sending you good vibes that all comes back quickly.
We went to contract ourselves last week... Our broker anticipated things to be finished in later April.

Thank you. That’s very good to know. I emailed and also called the broker a couple of times this week but got vm.

I had a boiler plate email today to say it went 3/9. The broker responded to my email today to say it went yesterday. Either way, it’s there! I’ll add it to the ROFR thread.

Fingers crossed!

Enjoy! I own at AKL and managed to get 3 nights in a 1 Bedroom Club Level in October. Really looking forward to it. BTW, AKL is the only DVC with Club Level rooms.
