Is Duffy popular?

We have rarely seen a line for him..in fact we only got this pic with him a couple weeks ago because he looked bored standing there by himself..

He does autograph but I can't find what we had him sign

Duffy is not as popular here as he is at TDL, but lots of people like him.

I'm not sure about wait times as we haven't sig hunted since he has been at US parks.

Duffy can sign his name.

Thank you for the quick reply! Duffy does not do signatures at TDS but we were able to get one at HKDL. Ds will be happy about being able to get his signature at Epcot! It will be so strange to walk up without a wait!

DD likes him so we've visited him a few times at WDW. We did have a line each time, but it was always about 5 minutes tops. I would say we were probably the 3rd or 4th back each time. He definitely does sign.

My kids would not have a clue who Duffy is. I could see them thinking that he is a huge Build a Bear to take a pic with though!

Where is he usually at?

He is at EPCOT, has his own pavilion right before Mexico, his store is right across from him with his stuffed animals and outfits.

DD had her picture taken with Duffy, she loved him so much she wanted him and his sailor outfit as a souvie! He sits on her bed, she likes the mickey heads on his face and bootie! I am sure she will get his picture taken with him again!

:goodvibes

Duffy comes from Japan. He is the teddy bear Minnie made for Mickey to keep him company when he went over to Japan to open the Disney parks there.

My kids LOVE Duffy. They were hooked the second they met him in February. There was a 0 wait to meet him, and his handler actually autographed our book (it says D.B with a paw print), as Duffy was having a hard time signing for some reason.

Each kid got their own bear, and picked an outfit. DS chose the safari outfit, and DD got the Buzz lightyear outfit for duffy

So cute! They just released the Woody outfits so I ordered one for Easter, along with the sailor outfit.

My DDs came home from our Feb. trip LOVING Duffy! I really didn't think he would be a big deal, because in my mind he's not even a "real" character. :rotfl: We met him at EPCOT with a 3-4 minute wait (he draws a pawprint with the letters "DB" below). Both girls spent their money from Grandma on a Duffy bear, and once we got home they both told me Duffy was their favorite character. :confused3 I guess he has 2 fans!

DD is so excited to see Duffy on our upcoming trip. She has the original "My First Disney Bear" that had a slightly different look/backstory, but we've always called him 'Duffy' since that's what he was called in Japan. I'm actually pretty excited for Duffy, too.

Glad to hear there are not super long lines for him! :thumbsup2

We saw him on 2/20 and while there was a line, it was short (3-5 people). We got a few pictures of him coming/going to his greeting pavilion. We also noticed Duffy in many stores throughout WDW, including Maestro Mickey's at ASMu.

I didn't even know who he was...until the boys educated me. The youngest insisted that is the one must have souvie that he brought home with him....he suckered me our last day at MK.

What's a Duffy? I googled it and came up with some singer from the UK.

As stated above, he is Mickey's Teddy Bear, received from Minnie. He is hugely popular in Japan and a major marketing bonanza for Disney over there. Rumor has it, in Japan people buy more Duffy merchandise than that of any other Disney Character except Mickey Mouse himself. As such, they are trying to create the same marketing shoppers' frenzy over here for him. He has a whole store across from his meet and greet. You can buy the bear, and then they sell outfits for him at $15 a pop. Conveniently, they have an outfit for pretty much every country in Epcot. :scared1: So far it isn't going so well for them. Americans don't seem nearly as impressed with him.

DD saw the meet and greet and immediately fell in love with the giant Teddy Bear. We wound up buying a Duffy and a few outfits. (Goodness knows Duffy couldn't eat at Biergarten without being dressed appropriately in his German outfit!) They have also replaced the masks and charms in Epcot, with a Duffy on a stick. Even though DD loved Duffy, she absolutely hated that. Saved us a whole lot of time as after one Kidcot station she junked it in the trash (this is the kid that saves everything-- we still have the Confetti from the Playhouse Disney EMH dance party)

I think it will take awhile for Duffy to reach the level he has overseas. Actually I doubt he will ever be that popular here in the USA. BUT I think he will be popular enough to keep around. When we went in Nov. All the outfits except the sailor (hard to find even then-looked EVERYWHERE found it in the Contemporary gift shop finaly) and the base ball shirt and hat. There was little wait to meet him yes, thats true about 3-5 minutes tops. We LOVED the Duffy on a stick as well.....very cute to display in our Disney room!
