Is Duffy leaving

When I told DS8 tonight (who owns 2 Duffy bear plush), he said he sure hopes the goodnight story on the resort TV isn't cancelled as well. I know a lot of people despised the regular cartoon interruption during the evening hours, but he always looked forward to the nights we were back at the room "early enough" to tell Duffy goodnight.

My daughter said the same thing. Both of my kids loved the goodnight story.

When i was there a couple of weeks ago, i asked various cast members about Duffy leaving and none of them knew anything about it, but i have read on here that CM's dont always know so go with what theme park insider says.

There was no official communication a few weeks ago. At that point it was just a rumor.

I am very sad that Duffy will be leaving :( My girls loved him!

However, with the new info about Daisy taking over the spot....is there any idea what this Daisy will be wearing? Weird question...I know...

I think she will be wearing her purple dress. But I'm not 100% positive on that.

I think it's sad, too. DD loves Duffy. One of my favorite Disney memories is MNSSHP 2012 when DD (age 3 at the time) met Duffy in his pumpkin outfit. He played peek-a-boo with her, and she was so happy. She picked out a Duffy and the pumpkin suit costume for her souvenir and she still plays with them.

My wife and I do not have kids so only go to Disney with friends and family and their kids so we never really got the whole Duffy thing. One day he was there and I guess before we return he will be gone. We will not miss him hanging out in Epcot with those 5 people standing in line waiting to get pictures with him.

Absolutely. Anyone who thinks Duffy "isn't popular" has no idea how HUGE he is in Japan. People push their bears around in strollers & there are special Duffy photo ops (for bears only). The LE Duffy merchandise sells faster than LE Star Wars merchandise does here. He might not have caught on in the States, but Duffy is a big commercial success for Disney.

Oh we know he's a big success in Japan and I have no problem with that, it's just he's a dud here. You can't try to shove something down folks throats just because it's popular in a totally different environment. I think if Disney had done some market research they might have found that out.

I'm glad to see him go, I always felt like he was a poor version of a build-a- bear and my kids definitely never brought into the he's Mickey's teddy bear thing.

LOL, I always giggle when I see him in Epcot, never anyone in line for a picture with him and last year the CM was one step from literally pulling people off the street to get a picture with Duffy

This just made me feel so bad for Duffy, and the friend of Duffy. Unreasonably sad for him. Now I want to go give them the biggest hug!

I wish I could go see him again! :( I got to meet him in California Adventure two years ago, and he was never out when I went to Epcot the last time. I thought he was cute.

I always thought Duffy was strange... but when I went to Tokyo Disney it's hard not to get caught up in the excitement they all have for him :-) I'm glad I got to go to the Duffy M&G when I was in Epcot back in May (I had to wait in line too!)

Glad to see others had some great Duffy moments. The Duffy character always made for some awesome M&G's with my family. The one I remember the most was when my son's shirt was caught and his belly was showing. We were waving to him as the pictures were being taken and Duffy noticed. Instead of helping my son fix his shirt, Duffy lifted his own shirt up a bit. It was really funny.

Never understood the hate for Duffy. He wasn't taking up any huge amount of space, and he was a fluffy bear giving out free hugs! What's not to love?

Oh NO!!! My daughter is going to freak!!! We just ordered her a Gelatine and Shellie May from Japan! She loves him!

Mine too. I'm trying to figure out how to tell her before the next trip. She got her Duffy on our 2010 trip right after he came out at WDW, and that bear has hardly left her side since. He still sleeps with her, goes on all our Disney trips and goes to the parks every day, and can typically be found in whatever room of the house she is in. She loves that bear. We visit him several times on our WDW trips, and she was not at all pleased that DLR (California Adventure) got rid of him before our summer trip, as we usually visit him several times there too. I told her in advance, but when she saw his empty meet and greet area, she couldn't help but have a few tears running down her face (they didn't even have another character in his spot- it was just an unused area at CA this summer). Duffy has tons of clothes and his book and we also have big Duffy, little Duffy, Shellie May and Gellatoni. I didn't like that bear that first trip when she was little and begging for every outfit in every country for him- but he grew on me and now I really like the furry guy. I wish we did have all the country outfits now! Even though she is a little bit older she still absolutely loves that bear. We are so sad to see him go. We also loved that he still wore his holiday costumes at EPCOT, it feels like we not only lost Duffy, but also another little piece of the holiday décor that WDW seems to keep chipping away at over the last few years.

Majority of people who see the article about Duffy leaving look at it and go "Duffy? Who is that?"

I think him leaving the park is much over do. Always thought it was strange to see his little store at the front of world showcase.

I can't even believe our luck, we go to Epcot Thursday the 1st with our 2 year old who LOVES Duffy. Thank goodness she will get to meet him!

don't think there was real hate, I think most folks who even noticed him saw him as a cheap money grab attempt.

I mean it was pretty evident from the original launch that he was not going to be a huge commercial success like it was over in Japan so why the need. It just came across as another attempt for Disney to cover a market (Build a bear type of thing).

I'm more of the mindset of, ok we tried it, it was a flop, move on. It's like how about they start flooding the gift shops with John Carter merchandise? lol. it flopped.
