Hello, I have been to the US parks so many times that I now I think I would like to try one overseas. I only see the Paris board so I'm guessing thats the most popular or best one to go to. Is this correct?
The Hong Kong park is very recent so I'm guessing it has very few attractions so far. If so what's the difference between Paris & Tokyo. Why is one any better over the other?
Thanks and I look forward to reading this board.

I think each park as unique qualities. Many who visit DLP find that as much of the early story telling of Walt Disney was based on European folklore the imagineers went the extra distance with some of the detail.

Any pictures I've see of Tokyo Disney so it as a truely beautiful park :goodvibes

PS meant to add I've not voted as I've not visited Hong Kong nor Tokyo, so can't realistically compare :)

Well as I live in the UK all Disney Parks are overseas to me.:)
I have been to Disneyland Paris only so cannot vote, I'm afraid.

I can't vote either sorry, although i did go to tokyo disneyland when i was about 11, i remember the parade was fantastic, and small world was my favourite ride, but it was a long time ago and they have since built the disneysea park too which frmo the website looks fantastic, if you search the web there are a couple of forums (fora?) and blogs about the parks. I can't compare as i didn't pay much attention to or appreciate any detail of the TDL. But like reid said, i think each park has it' own unique 'magic' to it, i would love to go to TDL and TDS myself, if you go let us know how it was!

I can't vote either as I've not been to either the Hong Kong or Tokyo parks. I do intent to change that one day, mind. ;)

I'm sure I'd love them, especially Tokyo DisneySea. I was given a lovely book for Christmas that contains many photos of Tokyo. :goodvibes

Hmm? I'll try to search on the web a little bit then. I'm sure someone has been to all 3 or at least to Paris and Tokyo recently and knows some of the similarities and differences between them and the US...

I have only been to the US parks and to DLP, but from what I've seen online, I think Tokyo Disney Sea (or whatever their second park is called) is wonderful!

Sorry ive not been there either (only been WDW) and am only goin DLRP for my 1st time on Monday.
I would like to visit the tokoyo one day though :)

I've been to Tokoyo Disney, but only for a day trip in 2001. My heart will always be with Disneyland Resort Paris but what we saw in Tokyo was great. They had some fab that Paris doesn't like The Tkiki Birds, Mickey and Minnie's houses, plus lots a Winnie the Pooh area. On the other hand the Blue Bayou restaurant was very big and open and not a patch on the Blue Lagoon in Paris. One thing Tokyo does have is Japanese people who are incredibly well behaved and polite which makes queueing and waiting for and watching parades very pleasurable.

I had to giggle at that cos it's so true! My mum is japanese so i know all about that!:rotfl:

I think you should probably consider that each of the Disney parks has it's own character and should not really be compared to the others, despite the fact that they have so many rides and experiences in common.

That said, if I was pushed and shoved and had my arm twisted up my back I would maybe..... perhaps..... say Tokyo Disney just has the edge over Paris. My reasons?

1) Tokyo Disneysea is unique and very beautiful
2) The weather is better in Tokyo for a greater part of the year - although it should be avoided in summer
3) The parades had way more floats
4) The CMs in Tokyo are everywhere and always ready to assist
5) Tokyo Disney seemed to me very Japanese, whereas Disneyland Paris is not very French (for me this is a plus, for others maybe not).

Don't get me wrong - I absolutely loved Paris and it has one or two advantages over Tokyo (everything is walkable; close for Europeans).

If you love Disney, then you shouldn't be thinking in terms of which one is best, or which one should I go to, but how long is it going to take me to be able to afford to visit them all. And even then, I don't suppose you could really compare them, as they keep changing and upgrading all the time. Hmmm, I don't think that helped much, did it, but I feel so much better ...:cloud9:

While I have not been to Disneyland Paris, Tokyo or Hong Kong, my partner has been to Tokyo Disneyland and TokyoDisneySea 2 years ago during a business trip to Japan.

What I can tell you about Tokyo Disneyland is that the park is a blend of "the best" from Disneyland in California and the Magic Kingdom in Florida. For example -- the Haunted Mansion (located in Fantasyland) has the outside look of the Florida Mansion but he Inside ride is like the one in California. Instead of Frontierland they have Westernland, the steam train does not circle the park but rather is only located in Westernland and Main Street is similar to the Florida version but has a glass roof over it. My partner said that it is very unique but very "Disney". The park also sits on a man made island in Tokyo Bay.

From the pictures and video he took and from the pictures and videos I have seen of Disneyland Paris, Disneyland Paris seems to be more beautiful and visual.

Tokyo DisneySea however, looks absolutely amazing and my partner said that the detail is unlike anything we have in the U.S.. That said, I do not think you can compare Tokyo DisneySea with Disneyland Paris or any other Disney park because every Disney park is unique in it's own way.

Pokey
