Is Disney your "vacation spot"?

Just curious as to how many people just go to disney each year (or whenever they go on vacation) or do you travel around to various places?
I have always been the one to want to go to someplace different each year, but actually enjoyed disney more than I thought and thinking of going there again this year. I can actually see myself going there every year instead of traveling to different places!

What do you guys do?

Disney is our main vacation destination. We started it a few yrs back, and I do not see it changing anytime soon.

We try to do Disney every year, mostly because it is a relatively inexpensive trip when you are taking a whole crew. (We condo it off site.)

Then we go somewhere else. Out west, the northeast, MO. I think that it is nice for kids to experience as much of the world as possible. Sometimes that is more possible, and sometimes less. Right now we have one in grad school and one in college, so we are trying to figure out how it will all work as they move on.

I have a small trip planned in october to go to salem ma but thinking I could definately live with going to disney as my vaca spot. Don't know where this came from all of a sudden because last year was out first trip and when we got home I said well, I've been there and done that....on to the next. But now I am the one who wants to go back, lol

Not at all. I want to see the world...the real world...and bring my kids along. Disney is great for what it is, and we really enjoy it, but it is not now and never will be "our spot." "Our spot" is wherever we have not been yet.

We have been going every year since 06 and are actually going twice this year. I see this as our vacation destination of choice for the next several years.

We break it up occasionally due to other large expenses and to visit family. But I love visiting Disney so much - oddly right now I'm craving sitting by the Pop pool sipping a drink more than I am trotting around the park. We can't help wanting to go back. Even my husband is a junkie as this morning he told me he had IASM theme stuck in his head.

Hi,

WDW is our main travel destination. :) We have been going since since 1986 when my son was 5 years old and try to go ever other year. :goodvibes We have always gone as a family, and have taken the grandparents twice.

DH and I made our first solo visit in 2008  and it was really nice to go alone, a little strange without the the whole "gang" but nice.

Whenever you ask the children (the youngest is 21) where they want to go for a family vacation WDW is always it.

We have made some wonderful memories there and now that we will be grandparents for the first time in August, :goodvibes I know there will be even more to make. :)

No, but Florida does tend to be our vacation spot. We live in Georgia, so it is nearby. We've had wonderful beach vacations at St. George Island and Destin, Florida. We also really enjoyed a Universal vacation a couple of years ago. This summer, we are going to spend time with my sister who lives in Tampa. So, i guess you would say that we do manage to get to Florida every year :)

we ahve been doing Disney every year for the last few years and bought into DVC so we locked that in for the next 48 yrs from now. We also spend a week on the beach on the East coast, about 2 hrs from us. We have many other places we want to go and visit, cruises we want to take and are just figuring out when the best time to go for us is. NYC maybe this summer, Canada next summer to see Niagara Falls again since only two of the kids remember it. We have tentative future plans for Hawaii, California, Bahamas, and Europe.

I don't think we have a "go to" spot except for heading to a beach for at least a week, maybe two next year.

We do Disney every other year and go somewhere else on the other year. Except we did go in 2008 and 2009 because of a family wedding near by. This year it is Yellowstone National Park and Branson,MO. I would go to Disney every year but my husband thinks the Grandkids need to have some variety. However, it is kind of like we can't wait to get vacation 2010 over with so we can start planning the Disney, even though I know we will have fun this summer also.

We've been to Disney every year since 2004, its been our big vacation every year since then but DH and I do sneak off 2-3 times a year for NASCAR races.

Disney is our main vacation spot. We live about 1hr from Myrtle Beach so we take tong weekends to the beach during the late spring and late summer as well.

No. We're settling into an every 10 year pattern, with DL thrown in if we're in that vicinity. :wizard:

We like to go different places. Living 8 hours from family dictates some vacation time going there - usually driving several times. We try to take one family vacation elsewhere each year. We've been to the Outer Banks, NewYork and Washington DC, a Chicago and the MidWest trip, a Yellowstone trip, Hawaii, and pretty much covered the West Coast of US and Canada. I think we're up to about 28 states on family trips.

If we had more vacation time (and vacation money!) and could go these other places and still do more Disney trips we probably would. As it stands, our "big vacation" only involves an airplane about every other year.

Our "go to" vacations would probably be considered visiting family and taking at least one long weekend at a nearby (a couple hours anyway!) beach. We didn't manage to fit a big family trip in last year - we have teenagers and their summers are booked!

Went to Disney for the first time in 2000. Before I went for the first time, I couldn't understand why my sister liked it so much and kept going back. After my first visit, I was hooked. We have been almost yearly since. It is almost like an addiction. LOL

Yes, definitely. DVC purchase in 2006 really made sense for us. This thread got me thinking about how many trips we've taken, so I tried to recap it below. We definitely go to WDW the most, we also go see family in California - and if we're in Cali, might as well go to DL ;), we like to cruise, and then occasionally we like to do other things too.

Prior to 2003, I used to go to DL regularly growing up and visited WDW on day trips a few times during college. Pre-kids, DH and I only vacationed in Vegas (I wish we had gone to WDW pre-kids though). We had DS #1 in 2002, and since then, here's a recap of our vacations. I only counted vacations that we took airplane rides for, I didn't count business trips or weekend in-state things like river rafting, Six Flags, etc.

2003 WDW - 1X, Other - 2X
2004 WDW - 2X
2005 WDW - 2X, DL/Cali - 1X, Other - 2X
2006 WDW - 2X (once while pregnant, and once when DS #2 was 9 weeks old!), DL/Cali - 1X, Cruise - 1X
2007 WDW - 2X, Cali (yikes no DL!) - 1X, Other - 1X
2008 DL - 2X (had to cancel a WDW trip due to surgery), Other - 1X
2009 Cruise - 2X, WDW - 2X (once was the same trip as DCL), DL - 1X, Other - 1X
2010 - None yet! Have a cruise planned this summer, and while we're in Cali, we'll be visiting DL...

I try to do both! I try to visit WDW and Universal most years and also see new places or revisit a few favorites. I could never only go to the same place over and over. I love seeing new places too much.

This September will be DH's and my third year in a row, and we have no plans to change it anytime soon. I'm sure someday we'll want a relaxing vacation somewhere that doesn requiring being up three hours befor park opening and going to bed two hours after park closing... but right now Disney is most definitely "Our Spot"

Since 1990, we go to WDW every other year and then somewhere else on the "off" year. We live in extreme se MI and 2 years ago we decided to go to Lake Michigan and Michigan Adventures. It was too cold for the water park and the lake. I had to buy sweatshirts/jackets so the boys could still play at the beach. We won't be vacationing in Michigan for a long time! This year we are going to D.C..
