Is Disney World the Only Place You Go? A Bro and Sis PTR Feb. 2011-TR Link added!

haha, I don't know if I could keep a Disney-related secret either. It's just too hard to keep from sharing the excitement!

BTW, I love those new Disney commercials. They are so cute. :goodvibes I even went on youtube one day to look for them, which of course led me to other "surprise Disney trip" videos which was so fun to watch. It amazes me how many people do that!

I am absolutely the worst secret keeper alive. Seriously. I booked a trip to Paris for my parents 39th wedding anniversary this year, and I was only able to keep it secret for about 10 minutes. The time it took me to book the trip and walk over to tell my mom! :lmao:

My mom told me that they surprised us with our first trip to Disney when I was four, and that they didn't tell us until we were on our way. Too bad we didn't have a video camera then. I had no idea that they surprised us!

Hi Danielle!

Sounds like you've got a GREAT trip planned! :thumbsup2 I love your ADRs and your touring plans - sounds like a fantastic schedule to me!!

Have a great night!
Katie

Thanks Katie! Hopefully I can keep this PTR moving, but I'm going to focus on my TR first. Ha ha, too much to do! I should have the rest of our itinerary posted sometime soon.

Hi Danielle,

just found your pre-trippie over on Stefy's thread! Since we are going in February too, I had to come over and take a peek!
I think I like it here ;) so I'm gonna stay! :lmao:

I travel with my brother too and our favourite destinations always have some Disney in it! :rotfl2:

Can't wait to hear more, great start! popcorn::

You can stay as long as you want! :rotfl:

My favorite destinations always include Disney. Aren't they the best ones? ;)

So I was looking online at my Chase rewards (I have one of the debit cards that accumulate rewards every time I use it), and I found out something great. I have enough rewards to get two one day park to park tickets for Universal Orlando!

This is so awesome, because that's $140 I had budgeted that I can save....oh who am I kidding, I'm just going to spend it in Disney! :lmao:

Awesome, so glad that you are saving $140.00 to spend at WDW.

Hi! Joining in since we are heading back to the World in Feb. as well. Great PTR so far. Keeping my fingers crossed for you that your brother will get the time off approved. Lukcy that you have a sibling that enjoys going to Disney. My sister does not get why we are always going back. :confused3

We're going down in July for our honeymoon and we're heading to Universal for Harry Potter also so I'm joining in because I'm extremely curious about how you like it :thumbsup2

And we're spending 3 days at Epcot, and I think DFi would greatly enjoy the beer around the world so I'm definitely looking into that!

I know, the hours keep ticking down, and he still hasn't gotten the time approved! :scared1:

Most people truly don't understand why I go back to Disney as often as I do. I'm fortunate though that my family is just as Disney-centric as I am. ;)

Congratulations on your upcoming marriage, and impending honeymoon at Disney! I'm very much looking forward to Harry Potter, and I will make sure to include plenty of pictures and details.

I love the idea of trying all of the beers in Epcot. It's something that I've never done, so I'm looking forward to it.

Day 4 Itinerary

February 8, 2011

This is a no Disney day for us, because where are we going? Universal to visit the Wizarding World of Harry Potter!

I am very excited about this. Mostly just because I want to check out the Forbidden Journey. All the things that I've heard about it are great.

We are planning on eating in our room first, and then getting to Universal before the park opens for the day. Do you know what I like about Universal the most? They have Starbucks. Did you know there is a Starbucks in Downtown Disney in Paris? Seriously, I just about fell out when I saw it there when we visited. Disney World, you need to strike a deal with a better coffee company. I'm just sayin'. I hate NesCrape. I just don't like drinking it.

Our first mission on this day is to get to Harry Potter first thing. I want to get on Forbidden Journey right away, so that we can perhaps ride twice, and then enjoy the other things the park has to offer.

We may not make it over to the Universal side this day, but that's all dependent on how the day goes in general.

We have a dinner reservation at 8pm at Boma. This is one of my favorite restaurants, and Jason has never been there before, so I'm excited to see what he thinks.

I need to think through where we are going to eat for lunch when we're at Islands of Adventure. See, the last two times I was at Universal I had bad eating experiences. The food just wasn't good. So, I know where not to eat, I just don't know where to eat. If anyone has been recently and has any suggestions, I am open to it! ;)

We have eaten at Mythos a few times, but it lacked in service and food quality the last time we went there.
Our favourite restaurant at UO is at Citywalk - we LOVE Bubba Gump. So my recommendation would be Bubba! :goodvibes

HARRY POTTER!!!! Forbidden Journey is amazing. My sisters and I were lucky enough to ride it twice when we went. Such a great ride.

Thanks for the suggestion Karin. I have heard that Mythos is pretty good. We have a Bubba Gump in Chicago, and we love it! Any suggestions for counter service? We're trying to keep it on a budget (since we budgeted all of our money to eat in Disney! LOL)

I'm so excited! :goodvibes

I was telling my mom that the ride harnesses make me a little nervous. I am a little on the "fluffy" side. My mom said that I'm being paranoid. I figure I am, but that would suck, wouldn't it? To go all that distance and not be able to ride?

So I have to take this moment to say, thank God!

Jason finally got his time off approved. It was just ticking on and on, and I was seriously getting nervous that he wasn't going to get the time off.

He basically ended up asking his boss. He told him that he had submitted the paperwork and that he hadn't said anything to him. So, he tells his boss that he really needs this time off approved, because everything is booked, flight, hotel, you name it.

So his boss tells him that he really needs to get his requests approved in advance before he books anything in the future. Jason is one of two IT people, and needless to say, no time is good time for him to take off. But we get four weeks of time each year that is use it or lose it, so what is the alternative? Not taking your time and losing it? Jason told him there was no way that would happen.

However, this does lead to an issue that I had discussed with Jason. My boss is different. He approves my time off all the time. However, I still submit my time before booking anything. Jason doesn't do that. Maybe this will teach him a lesson, because we're taking the 40th anniversary trip for my parents in July, and that trip is non-negotiable! I told him today, he better get his butt in gear and get that time off request approved for July, ,because we still have not booked the flights, so he's got time....but I guarantee it he won't. He'll still wait.

I don't know what to do with that boy. :confused3

So, I'm relieved because his time off for February is done and taken care of. Now I can continue with my updates! I'll get you one tomorrow with our Day 5 itinerary.

Stay tuned!

catching up!! A non-disney day sounds like fun! I only went to Universal for HHN and we would go to City Walk but that was it. It was one of my goals when living down there to go to both parks on a normal day and Sea World too..it didn't happen but I did a lot of other things!!

Congrats for the time-off. My boss at work always approves mine assuming they have a full staff to have teachers cover but I haven't had a problem ever!

I'm so happy that he finally got the time off. Honestly I was getting a little nervous and was thinking that I might need a contingency plan! :lmao:
