Is Disney What It Used To Be?... No, it's not!

Loved the Disney of old and I love the Disney of today.

Yes I miss some of the old favorites like the original Tiki Room, Horizons and 20,000 Leagues. But I love the new things like Buzz Lightyear, Mickey's Philharmagic and Mission Space.

I miss that special feeling about being able to stay at the Poly when the only Disney hotels were the Poly, Contemporary and Golf Resort. But I love my DVC and being able to walk to Epcot!

I miss being able to walk around Discovery Island and view the wildlife. But I love going on the safari at Animal Kingdom.

I miss Main Street Electrical Parade and Tapestry of Nations. But I love the new Wishes fireworks.

That's what I love about Disney - they do try and always be doing something new. Also when you think of how many old favorites they haven't touched like Dumba, Haunted Mansion and Pirates and you know that they are still caring about history of the parks.

You are so not alone. I truly miss a lot of the stuff that was there on my first visit and I wasn't a kid. I was 35 years old and bringing my children. Tiki, 20K, WoM, the "now is the time" CoP...lot's of things but it has so much more now. Thunder Mtn, Splash Mtn, ToT, rnRC, MS, TT and the list goes on. For everyone we lost we gained about 10. That is the part that is hard to keep in perspective. I miss the old, but the new is great.
::yes::

Very nicely stated! I love the WDW of my childhood, because I was young and innocent then too. Disney continues to be an awesome experience, but I would love to go back to that time for a day or two, sometimes!

For us, Disney just keeps getting better! There's something new every trip. Either Disney has a new experience for us, like Mission Space and Mickey's Philharmagic, or we try something that's been around for a while that we just haven't gotten to yet, like eating in a new restaurant at Epcot's World Showcase.

As our interests and lives change, we seek out different parts of Disney to appreciate. The magic still lives there for us, even after 13 wonderful years of visiting!

Can I get an Amen?!:teeth:

AMEN! I once read on the boards here that some guy was irate (and I mean irate) that WDW pulled Spectromagic from its schedule while he was there. Apparently, he was a little upset he woudn't get to see it. It was obviously ruining his entire trip because of this one parade.

But thanks for posting this...because I have been pretty worried that my expectations are too high for this trip coming up (haven't been in 3 years and it will be fiance's first time).

Will it be as good? Will I still love it? Will he love it?

Positive thinking is key!!
