Is Disney What It Used To Be?... No, it's not!

Okay, now I've got your attention. I read so often on these and other boards that Disney is not what it used to be. IT'S NOT. WHY WOULD YOU WANT IT TO BE?

I'm here to say it is so much better. Why, because I want it to be. I feel like if you are always looking for someone else out there who has had a similar bad experience, or a bad occurance than all that can come from it is bad opinions. And bad feelings are so much harder to let go. I say think of all of the multitudes of great feelings and experiences you have had and look forward to many, many more.

Once you have read this take a moment and say you know what I didn't get that room request but man I had a great time and I can't wait to go back. Or I wish that ride wasn't down for refurb. but I'll look forward to it that much more next time. If we all enjoy ourselves it should be better than it ever was before.

Can I get an Amen?!

I think Disney is great!! I believe that 99.9% of the time Disney goes Above and beyond to make the Disney experience a great and magical one. If you are a pessimist sure you will not enjoy Disney. I think those people who complain about things like waiting in line etc. just aren't happy people in general ( nor are they very smart for going to a theme park and not expecting to stand in line) if you don't like it don't go...also you put in what you get! If you don't research then you won't have a good trip DUH! I for one will keep going to Disney and one day I will take my children there and experience a whole new kind of magic. I think Disney will keep trying to improve and create !!! That's just my 2 cents. AMEN

For some of us who have been going to WDW since the beginning in the 70's, it is hard to see change. I wish that there was a way to magically keep the world the way it was when I was a child. But, Disney has to change. It can't stay the same forever. So, I try not to complain too much about how much I miss the old Tiki Birds (I am probably the only one!) or the old World of Motion attraction (again, I'm probably alone on that one too!). Change is good, for the most part!

each time WDW just gets better and better. the kids get older and can feel free to do what they want. so we get some free time alone. but want to know what the magic of it all is? they still want to do everything as a family

I believe the people who talk "smack" about Disney are the people who don't go, or go very rarely. Like my friends they say "How can you stand going to Disney so much" and I just laugh. Because I know that everyone on these boards knows that Disney is not just any amusment park.

This year made it 21 years in a row for me... and this year's trip was better than any other. Sure, some things have changed and there were some attractions that are now gone... but overall as a whole... This is the best Disney World has ever been. I also miss the World of Motion and the buckets that used to fly the guests from tomorrowland to fantasyland... but I also think MGM and AK are even better!!!
As long as I'm at WDW... my glass will always be 1/2 full, never 1/2 empty!!!

Seriously, you can't make things better unless you have change.

I do, however, miss If You Had Wings and Mr. Toad.

You are so not alone. I truly miss a lot of the stuff that was there on my first visit and I wasn't a kid. I was 35 years old and bringing my children. Tiki, 20K, WoM, the "now is the time" CoP...lot's of things but it has so much more now. Thunder Mtn, Splash Mtn, ToT, rnRC, MS, TT and the list goes on. For everyone we lost we gained about 10. That is the part that is hard to keep in perspective. I miss the old, but the new is great.

While I do miss some of the past, that was yesterday's magic.

Every visit is a new adventure, you can't recapture yesterday's magic, Why would you want to?

This is a new day, and there are magical memories waiting to happen. Start making new memories.

Disney is never old-hat, don't try to make it old-hat because somewhere in the process you will miss todays magic.

I too miss some of Disney's retired rides, shows and parades. They are not forgotten, they live on, forever in my mind.

Just returned last week-end from yet another terrific adventure at WDW. You know.....I do really miss the experiences I had when my dd was just 5 1/2 and still starry eyed. But, now I watch the other little ones squealing for joy, with stars in their eyes! My dd, 11, and I just grin and remember when. Yes, WDW changes. So do we all. Incredible as it may sound, but every trip we find something a little different or new to try.
