you think disney will replace wishes in the next few years? By looking at the new one at Disneyland i really hope not, The music is very cheesy in Disneylands new show. and Still think wishes is better because it has all Classic Disney movies.

Having just come back from DL, I hope so! Disneyland Forever and Paint the Night are heads and tails better than Wishes and Main Street Electrical Parade. Sadly, though, I think we're stuck waiting until WDW's 50th in 2021 for new nighttime entertainment.

I'm sure it'll happen eventually. It's inevitable. However, I will be sad because I have a lot of memories associated with it.

I love the combination of music, spoken story, and perfectly matched fireworks that makes up Wishes. If anything new comes along - including the Star Wars fireworks next spring - I sure hope they follow that format. Synchronized music and fireworks alone can be done by anyone, only Disney can mix all three.

But the Electrical Parade has charm and it's a great throwback for all of us who grew up with it. We love it and it's a must-do whenever we go to WDW!

Don't worry, that has been a Disney trademark since the 1970's, and improves along with new technology.

You're getting me really excited to see those shows!

I have not seen DL Forever yet, but Believe... was better than Wishes (they were similar) and it doesn't surprise me that DL has the better fireworks program. The only one that I've seen that was better than Hallowishes is DL's Haloween version! I do love Wishes, but when it's time it's time. MSEP though is irreplaceable!

I would have thought that, but the Fireworks for Star Wars Weekends this year hinted at a story, but it wasn't spoken. I would have thought having a battle between the Empire and the Jedi would have been more creative. Maybe have C3P0 narrate an intergalactic battle, as fireworks are used to illustrate the fighters and explosions. Or something.

What you say about MSEP is true, but all good things must end sooner or later. Nostalgia, when it comes to attractions, gets short shrift from TPTB. But I just saw the Paint the Night parade a couple of weeks ago. IMO it can give MSEP a run for its money. And I think the crowds at DLR for the new parade would agree.

First let me say that I love MSEP (and loved Spectromagic as well). But, the new Disneyland nighttime parade just blows them away.

I have loved all of the major fireworks shows at WDW, so I trust that the next one will also be great. Wishes has stronger memories for me, but Fantasy and Believe were awesome, too.

We saw both the parade and fireworks last week at Disneyland and thought both were awesome. We watched both back by Small World, they did projections on the Small World building during the fireworks. I believe they also did the projections off the Matterhorn as well as the castle.

While the topic of a Wishes replacement comes up frequently, right now, the immediate focus is Rivers of Light over at DAK. The creative team is still busy fine-tuning that show, and once it debuts, they're not going to debut another new show immediately after. They want to get as much special attention/attendance out of each show as possible. On the other side of RoL, there are nighttime spectacular plans for WDW but MK is not the priority. I've heard lots of buzz about a possible replacement to IllumiNations (designed by Steve Davidson; his first show at Epcot) in 2017/18 or thereabouts, and then with the expansion over at DHS, there has been some speculation regarding the nighttime lineup there. Keep in mind, Wishes predecessor (Fantasy in the Sky) technically ran for over thirty years, albeit with quite a few changes over the years, but by that standard, Wishes isn't "old." That said, once Epcot's lagoon show is addressed and Fantasmic! is at least updated if not replaced entirely, then we'll probably see MK's nighttime entertainment get some love.

One of the things I love about Paint the Night is how it pays tribute to MSEP (a DL fan favorite). There are aspects clearly influenced by MSEP but what is great, in my opinion, is how they build on that foundation using modern technology. That said, don't count on it coming to WDW anytime in the near future.

I've been listening to the music non-stop since I got home!

Me too! Found it on YouTube not that long ago! Love that song!
