Is Disney Quest worth the extra time and $$

Disney Quest gets thumbs up from everyone in my family. Believe me a love the parks alot!!!!!!!!! I truly enjoy spending time at DQ. I usually do a couple of the animation classes while the rest of my family builds their own coasters. I enjoy the virtual reality duels & the pirate ship treasure hunt. This place is really fun.!!!!!!!!!!!

On the magic your way tickets, you can add DQ as a plus....I originally didn't add it to our package until I looked up the price for one day at typhoon lagoon for the 3 of us...it was only around 40.00 more to add the plus feature, which includes 5 admissions for our 10 day stay to DQ, TL, BB, or PI, whichever we want....so for us it was more than worth it to add the plus feature to our pkg...

Thanks to all who took the time to reply, I really appreciate it. The vote, if I counted correctly (ignoring the dimpled chads), it was 12-4 in favor of DQ. I could use a quick clarification since you folks are definitely in the know -- according to the official WDW site, my Park Hopper tickets allowing me to visit more than one park each day are not good for DQ. Just wanted to make sure I read it correctly, that I would have to go up another level to hit DQ as part of the package. It seems like it would be worth a visit during the heat of the day (we're hitting it in July and yes, I am dreading the crowds).

OK here is where it gets a little complex, you have the "Old style" tickets. Park hopper plus tickets do not include DQ. Do you have the 7 day Park Hopper plus tickets? or maybe the 5 day?

You should figure out if it is a better deal to convert these to MYW tickets, the new style. Disney will apply whatever you paid for the tickets towards any MYW ticket that costs more. Since the Plus pack on the MYW tickets includes DQ it may be well worth your while. I don't have the old prices, but I am going to guess there is a MYW ticket that will work better for you.
If you are going for a week, you have 5-7 possible park days (depending on arrivial and departure times)

A 6 day MYW ticket with park hopping and 4 admissions to DQ or a water park is $289 and about $250 for a child ticket(I am rounding). That is really more than you will have time to fit in in a week, most likely. But to go down to a 5 day ticket only saves you a few $$'s a ticket and you only get 3 pluses.
One admission to DQ is at least $24 for an adult (what we paid last year with ticketmania). The advantage to having the 4 pluses on the MYW ticket is you could go twice to DQ, for a few hours to get out of the afternoon heat, and use the other 2 pluses for water parks (or whatever combo works for you).

If you wanted to share what tickets (how many days) and price (Disney can tell by the bar code what you paid, if you don't remember) and exactly how many park days you have we could break it down for you and tell you your best option for DQ admissions. Do you plan to go into parks for part of the day and then to a water park, or will your water park days be non park days?

Boy is this getting long. I just went over this same topic with a friend of mine the other day, and for her it worked out much better to convert to MYW tickets, but when I looked at the numbers I did see that it is not always true.

Oh and I forgot to say that if you wanted to you could call Disney and ask them about converting your tickets, prices and such. You want both the Park hopper option and the Plus pack option added to Magic Your Way (MYW) base tickets.

Im one thats against DQ. Went back in auguest and it was just alright. If your into video games and virtual reality then you might enjoy it, but to me it just seemed like one large arcade. I would rather spend the time doing more of the parks or using the plus passes for the water parks or PI.

We went just a few weeks ago for the first (and last) time. We did not like it at all and my son (who loves video games) had a better time in a reg arcade. I say dont pay to go and dont use up precious plusses to go either.

We went using the magic plus option and thats the only way I'd go.
Not worth $35 and find out when crowds will be low.
If you odn tlike it leave, you havent lost much

We are also going in July and plan on going to DQ for the first time. We have been to WDW several times but have never found time to squeeze it in. I promised my 10 yr. old DS we would plan a visit on this trip. I'm also concerned about the heat and crowds since a summer visit is new to us and I think DQ will offer us a nice break. We plan on going when it first opens in the day. Also, in July the parks are open fairly late, especially since you are staying on-site and can use EMH. I think you will have time to do both the parks and visit DQ.

As far as the $$$ there was a thread a few weeks ago on DQ and PI tickets from coupon momma ??? The DQ tickets for adults was only $20 right now. (tax included) I have never ordered from anywhere other than Disney or Ticketmania so I can't vouch for them but perhaps others can.

Once you're in th eonly costs will be for efood if you choose or purchases (a make your own robot thing or something like that)

All of the attractions are included (except those that issue tickets redeemable for prizes, and they are contained in a certain area)


Seriously though look at how much it would cost to add the Magic plus option.
It is only like $10 more that an admission to DQ, and you have the chance to also go to the water parks and Pleasure Island.

Our family's experience @ DQ was much different. My DS (12) had been begging to go for years. Finally, I broke down and we did DQ instead of our planned day @ AK. What a disappointment from beginning to end. I actually enjoyed it the most of our group. My son, the confirmed gamer, was dismayed...nothing like the buildup we heard.

We were in line 20 minutes before they were supposed to open for business. Nearly 45 later, they finally began letting people in to the building. Many attractions were not running (mechanical problems the CM's indicated), including Pirates of Carib., many of the animation stations and, Sid's Make a Toy station, and one of the virtual reality fighting attractions. The lines for the rides that were working were swamped, took longer than most non FP MK rides. As for the ulimited play on the video games, it was exactly that - people, mostly grown-ups hogging machines for extremely long times.

After 4 or 5 hours, the Pirates was fixed. After another hour plus wait, we did enjoy the ride.

Although we have 4 plus features left on our tix I doubt we'll ever return. We all considered it a wasted day.

thanks very much for all the info--boy it seeems like there is no middle ground here. It is a real Love or Hate. I think we'll take a shot at it this year in August. An 11 yo DS would probably have no problem finding something to make him happy there!

Wow CIRQUE IS ENTIRELY DIFFERENT!! .. We got tickets front row I think they're usually $90.. and that's really cheap for that kinda show. IT was worth it and amazing.

Last summer we went and my dd 10 and ds 7 both really enjoyed it. I think you should go. I would check the weather and plan to go on the hottest/rainest day of your stay as it is all inside. Good food choices there too.

We have been to DQ several times. Hot days are good and crowds are fairly light, but on rainy days, EVERYONE goes to DQ (or so it seems). The food is VERY good!!

Another vote for it... we've been atleast once on our trips for awhile now and kids of all ages (very young to now almost pre-teen). They asked if we were going again- and I said sure. Our tickets don't have it on there- but never fear... already have discounted tickets for DQ from ticketmania in hand. We have a no park/no water park day planned- no telling how much of that day we'll spend at DQ- probably a good portion of it I'm sure. LOL

Being in the Pirates of the Carribean multiple times is good enough reason alone to be at DQ!
I think he would be in heaven there.
I saw Cirque recently. Although it was fantastic, I would spend the money for all day at DQ over what Cirque costs, esp with a son as described.
