Pretend DQ isn't an extra option on your tickets, and you have to purchase tickets from Ticketmania. Would you spend $112 for your family of 5 to go? Is it worth that much money when you have Play Station 2 and Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 at home? Thanks for your opinions! We just can't decide :confused3

Since DS13 & I are going for 2 wks Im letting DS bring his PS2 w/us - we'll ea be needing our own downtime. I may get him a new game before we leave.

it is definatly worth it! disney quest is nothing like play station it is an interactive indoor theme park. they do have a few video games but most of it is virtual reality rides and games. i believe the cost is about $30 to get in so $112 for 5 people sounds like a deal. my dh and my ds love this place more than some of the parks. i dont know how long you are going for but if you have the time i would say dont miss it!! :wave2:

so the MYW package doesn't include Disney Quest entrance???
I'm asking because I haven't heard this or seen it addressed previously.
Thanks,
V-

If your MYW tickets have the "plus" feature, then DQ admission is an option. If they do not have any "pluses", then you would have to purchase tickets. Ticketmania's price is deeply discounted off the gate price. I prefer to purchase my DQ tickets from them and use my "pluses" at the waterparks instead.

To the OP:
DQ is not a bunch of Playstation/XBox games. It is very difficult to describe but if you have pre-teens to young adults in your group, it is well worth the $112 for an afternoon or evening's admission. We have PS2, Rollercoaster Tycoon, XBox, DDR and heaven know what other high-tech stuff here at home but we always make time to visit DQ on our trips to WDW.

We'll have 5 plus options on our MYW passes. I'm sure we'll use at least 3 of those options at DisneyQuest.

My kids (14 & 12) did not care for it at all. They had to wait for each "station", the other kids would play forever and apparently there's no one to make them move on. (At least when we were there.) They just weren't impressed, but then we are a family of technogeeks and have a lot here at home.

I think it really depends on how long you will be there for. DH loves it, and he only plays the "old" video games and pinpall games, DS loves everything. We try to spend at least one day there(11:30-5) Usually the day we arrive or the day we leave depending on our arrival/departure time. --- if its the money thing, it's cheaper than playing in the arcade at the resort or at MK tommorrowland.

I would have to say no, we paid for it last year and the only reason we're going back this year is that its included on our tickets and we need something to do our first night there. beware of nasuea at this place, i think i had kind of a system overload last year.

I agree. I know some just love ANYTHING that Disney ownes, but sensibly, from my personal experience there, it was ok, but not worth the money. I wont go back for that price.

Alot depends on the ages of your kids and what kind of games they like. The virtual reality rides are amazing and alot of fun such as Pirate, Aladdin, Jungle Cruise, Cyberspace mountain, Ride the Comix and Alien Encounter. They are nothing like the games you have at home. My DS15 really enjoyed these (so did we) but was only so-so on the other games because he is at the age where he likes more violent online games. They have all those bigger games (like the ones where you actually sit on a ski-do to ride) that cost a bundle to play otherwise.

We were glad we went and experienced the virtual rides but we wouls probably only go back if it was part of our pluses.

Depends on how old your children are. Alot of the stuff there was to old for my 5 year old and we couldn't do any of it.

I'm told that Saturdays and rainy days make for crowds at Disney Quest so if you are trying it for the first time to even see if you like it, go early (I think they open at 10) on a nice weekday.

All virtual reality I have tried so far, and many video games, make me nauseous, too.

Only the games that spit out coupons to trade for prizes require money. If you can't seem to make a game start, look for a green button a little smaller than a dime. You also have to press the game's regular start button, if any.

I honestly don't think its worth at all! I thought that it was really boring and really not worth the money.

Thanks for all your opinions! We are at Disney for 10 days. Sounds like something you should try once, but I'll leave it up to the kids. Translation- I'll most likely be heading to Ticketmania since I can't imagine them saying they don't want to go.

I just have to say that I love your conclusion, skeeterbug! Emply nester here, but that's what I would have done too!

I left it up to my DS-12 and DS-6 last year & after reading up on it on the web they wanted to try it. (DS-12 wanted tix for his bday present).
Well DH and both DS's went and spent the ENTIRE DAY, Noon-10:30pm.
They absolutely loved it. We head back on Mar. 17th and its included in our tickets so DH is making myself and DD-5 join them this time. (I'm not as excited as they are) They actually want to go to DQ our 1st night instead of MK.

Good luck in your decision,
Cheryl

Are going to try for first time on our visit in June.We must have walked past it 50 times.Reading the posts it seems you may need to go one time and form a opinion if you think it's worth the bucks. :goodvibes :earsboy: :sunny: :wave2:

We went last summer for one evening since DQ was included in our package price. Our kids were 13, 11 & 10 and they still talk about that night! My DSis had joined us and let's just say even us 3 40-somethings had fun! Consensus was that the cyberspace roller coaster was their #1 favorite, but they also loved Pirates, Aladdin, and others. Only Buzz was a disappointment... long wait and all sorts of operational issues the night we went. I did not expect to like it, but DQ was a pleasant surprise for my gang!

This is the best way to look at it. If the kids want to go to DQ or any of the other plus options more than one time during your trip, the extra $45 is worth it. The ticket to DQ by itself, is $34.08 before tax, as is the ticket to a water park. Even if you go to one of the above and a night at PI, it will cost you $10 more than adding the Magic plusses to your MYW base tickets.
