Hiya

We are just contemplating booking our 2010 trip to Walt Disney World. We already know we wanna stay at Pop Century.

But the question is are the parks doable with a 15 month old child?

we have a trip booked for 2009 but we arnt doing the parks then.

I mean obviously we wont spend all day in the parks, and I dont think theres many rides a child that age can go on, but I was thinking seeing the characters and being in the Disney amosphere would be lovely

has anbody taken a child that age?

Oh yes... Disney makes it so easy with the baby comfort stations at each park.. We did Disney for the 1st time as a family when my dd was 14 months old...Ok ok she screamed from DC to I-4 but it was fun just the same ... The value resort is wonderful because they have such great themed pools ..We spent alot of time there on that trip. Bring your own stroller, Disneys are way to uncomfortable for that age..Definitely do CP breakfast and Playhouse Disney Live on stage.. Magic Kingdom and MGM are better parks for that age.. AK is fun also but alot of walking for not alot of visual stimulation for that age. Good Luck you will love it..:cloud9:

Yes, you will love it. we have twins and we spent a week in Disney over their first birthday. There are lots of things they rode and they even like the charaters. We don't regret it at all, disney really makes things nice for families with small children.

It will be great!! There is SO much children that age can do and ride!!
We have been going 2X a year since my 6 yo was 8 months...you will have a great time!

yes yes yes. took ds when he was 15 months. dd at 9 and 19 months. they loved it. yes you might skip some things you normally do space mtn and stuff. but the look in their eyes when they meet mickey is phenomenal. plan well. bring lots of stuff. you'll need plenty of diapers and bottles to lug. make sure your stroller basket is huge. but it is the absolute most greatest thing. my parents couldn't take us till we were 12 and 9 . so they came on ds 1st trip and said that it is amazing. it is doable. and worth all the exhaustion. take lots of pics they are priceless. my mickey scrapbook that i did after ds
1st trip is ds and dd fave reading material. he still swears he remembers tweedle dee and tweedledum trying to wake him from his nap. ..... now if only i could get those other trip pics in an album

Another ABSOLUTELY vote here!

Our dd#2 was 16 months on our first trip, and not only was it doable. She really truly enjoyed it FAR more than I would've imagined! So much so that we're headed back again already this year (dd#2 will be 28mos this time)!

Another vote for yes.
My parents took me when I was 6 months. I remember nothing, but they tell me I was smiling when I wasn't asleep.

We're also taking my 17 month old niece in about a month.

DS loved it at 6 mo and at 8 mo. He'll be there again in 3 weeks at 13 mo. I know he'll enjoy things even more this time around, but before, he's loved the characters, loved the rides (esp. in Fantasyland). He really liked the Playhouse Disney show in DHS. He was happy just in the stroller watching all the big kids having fun.

The Baby Care centers are great, and overall, we just take a slower pace. I know we'll be back many times, so if in a day, we're only at the park 3 hours and only ride a couple rides, who cares? We're having fun.

DS also loves the water, so the pools are a must in the afternoons.

Disney is one of the BEST places to take a young one because there is SOOOOO much they can do! They can go on all of the rides that don't have a height restriction (which really only eliminates the faster rides like space mountain, big thunder, splash mountain, etc). My oldest was 19 mths on her first trip, my middle child was 14 months on his first trip, and my youngest was 9 mths on her first (well, actually she was there when I was 7 mths PG, LOL!)

Go and have a great time!

My oldest was 16mnths for his first trip, so so much fun and the best part was we all went back to the hotel and took an afternoon nap everyday so that we were out at night for all the nighttime shows many evenings. We would bring a pair of pjs and a washcloth to wipe him down and he would almost always fall asleep in the stroller. My youngest was 5mths the first time we took him (that one was a little tougher because we were dealing with an infant and a 3 year old, but we still had a blast and would do it again)

I've done it--twice! It is more than possible and there is more they can do than they can not do. They'll take it in differently, but there is no doubt that they walk away with a lot. DS#2 learned the words "Mickey" and "Duck" when there. He, of course, had no clue to anything Disney prior to going, but came home in love with all things Pooh and became the biggest Mickey Mouse fan. All these things he is into at 4yo is from that one trip.

As far as the work goes--have baby, will travel. Children that age are very portable. Yes, they need breaks to get out and run/move at that age, but they will be more content than normal. My high maintenance, difficult child was actually easier at WDW than at home. That place is wonderful for the over active, over needy child. And you can change a diaper anywhere. You really aren't carrying more stuff with you than you would at the mall--and it's shoved in the stroller anyhow. I always found my kids at the ages of under three (youngest being 7 months when going) to be LESS work, not more than so many here theorize, at WDW.

It's possible. And it isn't that difficult.

Definitely!! Our DD will be 5 in July and our June trip will be her 9th! She has been to WDW at these ages:

3 months, 11 months, 17 months, 2, 3, 4 and a few offsite trips in between. We've never had a problem and she could identify all the Disney Princesses by her 2nd birthday. WDW is a wonderful place to take your kids, no matter how young(or old) they are!:goodvibes

Yes definitely. My dd was 26 months old for her first trip and had a blast. Characters were NOT her favorite she only saw Mickey when she shy'd away from him I never tried with any others only Mickey again later in the day where she warmed up enough to give him a cautious hug. She adored the shows and even watched Mickey's Phillharmagic with the glasses on the whole time. She could actually ride quite a bit even Barnstormer(she is tall for her age) but she didn't go on. We had a pretty large group of several adults so we had no trouble swapping her around to ride everything we wanted.

It will be a blast but don't count on him/her having any memories of it though, mine doesn't and she has a razor sharp memory for the tiny details at times. She will remember the color of an object from seeing it once months down the line. But something as memorable as Disney nope. :confused3 I hardly remember my first trip at 10.

YES, go for it!! Our first trip was when my ds were 7 and 14 months old, I was worried to be bringing a baby but he LOVED the rides at MK and I have the most priceless pictures of him with the characters.
We just got back 2 weeks ago, my youngest turned four on this trip and was such a "handful" lol, he is just into everything and has so much energy, DH and I were tired at the end of the trip and were remembering our first trip when he was a baby and how much easier it was!!!:goodvibes

My son has been to Disney at 15 months, 18 months, 27 months, 30 months, and 35.5 months. Every trip was great. Looking back , the earlier ones were even easier than the more recent ones (he has OPINIONS now :rotfl: )! We did the parks from morning to night with our DS. He was a great napper and napped 2-3 hours a day in his stroller and woke up refreshed and ready to go. At that age he loved all the rides with no height restrictions (there are TONS of rides they can ride at that age) and playing in any fountain/splash/play area. He also loved the characters once he got used to them (the first couple of encounters he needed Mommy with him, but by the end of the week he was running up to them all by himself!). Take a good stroller with a good sunshade (I use the Kiddpoatomus ray shade in addition to my stroller's shade) and have a blast!

Absolutely. We have been to WDW when 3 of our 4 kids were between 14-15 months. They had a great time! My dh thinks that age at WDW will be one of his favorite vacation memories. We are planning a trip for Sept. and our youngest who is 3 1/2 keeps talkng as if she really remembers being there when she was 15 months old. We were looking at a few vacation pictures and she says I remember that castle - we went inside it right here. Then she pointed to the walkway through the middle of the castle. There is so much to see and do for babies and toddlers. Have a fantastic time!
