Is Disney parks really competing with Six Flags or Universal?

It depends on what you mean in competing.

Six Flags has 18 parks across North America with 2 overseas coming soon. Disney has 6 and Universal have 4 parks worldwide.

However based on the 2014 Theme Index ( Global Attraction Attendance Report), attendance for Disney was 134M, Universal was 40M and Six Flags was 29M.

There is no competition... lol. I hate to say it, but the last few times I went to Universal it was very rundown and dirty. The second to last time I went, the lake in Universal was covered in dead fish and there was one guy in a dingy fishing them out one by one. Bleck. I hate to be this way, but that is something you would never see in a Disney theme park.

Disney specifically WDW has something that Six Flags lacks and that's more of a vacation/resort destination.

Universal is trying with their own resorts, CitiWalk and dual parks, however personally I can't see staying longer than 2-3 days there whereas WDW, you can spend a week there doing multiple things.
