Is DIS slow or is it just my computers?

I've been using a Dell (work laptop) and an IMAC --and DIS seems very slow (keystrokes even) to load and maneuver on both. Could it be my security settings or something? Just wondering . . .

I've had better luck loading it in Firefox, it seems like it runs faster than on Microsoft Edge. It was really slow on Edge, but maybe it's just my 3 year old laptop that now seems antiquated, ugh.

Thanks for your replies- Misery loves company! I haven't been on the DIS regularly for a few years (our last trip in 2010) and I don't remember as many ads. They must be part of -or the main source of- the problems.

I no longer log on with my iphone-- I get these weird pop up ads, and then I worry I'm getting a virus....

I get the need for ads but how about a special member option to pay ($10/year?) to avoid these $&@#% ads!!

I'm gonna chime in too. Love the site, but lately I don't log in because the ads, specifically the ads with sound (yuck) will just begin to play while I am browsing and I can't even locate the source. This drives me crazy. I know ads are what drive the site, but maybe less intrusive?

It's not your computer. It's this site (more specifically a really bad/corrupt ad that won't go away and won't get removed. We've been down this road before.). And yes, it's driving me batty too.

Gonna toss Glimmer Blocker for the Mac out there too... tis Free as well, have it run on 1 computer and the rest in my house, including phones can connect to it to block pretty much anything you want

I came because I'm having the same problem with the boards and found easily no less than 3 posts about the same issue, yet it hasn't been addressed by anyone in charge of the boards???? That's ridiculous

It is driving me crazy--can't have another open window or two because the DISboards bog down and cause the computer to freeze. This isn't on just one but two different computers. Then if you leave a page open and come back to it after a bit--the entire screen is black and it takes a few seconds to reload the page. Very annoying when you are scrolling down a page and it isn't loading as fast as it scrolls.

I use Firefox and it is still slooooowwwwww. I'm with other posters--it is all the advertisements which I realize are a necessary evil, but at what price?

I do fine on Chrome. I had many problems while using Safari. The ads have increased. I use ad blocker. Try using a different browser. And ad the ad blocker.
