Is DHS that bad right now?

Just saw a video from a vlogger who want to DHS yesterday (was walking through the gates as the park opened).

The wait times seemed crazy for a mid-week February --- 35 minutes for TSMM at 9:15 .. 50-70+ minutes for most of the other rides shortly after and he was only there for a few hours. He was trying to get same-day fast passes and of course had no luck except GMR.

Is it just that the crowds have nowhere to go BUT the 5 rides that the queues get that long THAT quick?

Just curious as I am planning on going to DHS in late march (where it will be more crowded) (but on an morning EMH day) and wasn't planning on getting Fast Passes (instead using them for the afternoon hop to MK).

Our expectations aren't super high (especially now) and I guess as long as we can get on Star Tours, TSMM and maybe GMR in the first EMH we'll be happy and then just do shows and stuff until we leave after noon.

it was Presidents Day Monday, and DDs school was closed Tuesday -- so maybe alot of people took this week off?

Yes, this is school vacation week in many places. We have travelled this week in the past, and it is usually a level 7-9 crowd time.

I saw the same blogger love there Bloggs but I think it was more todo with presidents day school being out and that fact that he had his FP for AK that night and just moved it over that morning, I think if he had planed the day before to go to HS he would have been better off. not sure why he did not try to get TOT FP

There are not very many ride at HS so the lines for the good rides get long fast. TSM stays long all day from what I recall. I haven't been in over a year but I always go when school is in session but the lines are always long.

This past weekend for same day fast passes at around 11am only thing I could find was Muppets, Little Mermaid show, and Star Tours. Nothing else was available so we went to a different park

Has the third track significantly decreased wait times at TSMM?

I haven't been since the third track opened but I doubt it. I remember going there first to get a fastpass and walking away seeing 45 to 60 minute wait. Of course it would be lower now but even 33% less is still 30 to 40 minutes right at park open.

I watched the same Vlogger and I have been watching the wait times because we will be there Monday. I had to keep reminding myself that it was President's day and that the crowd wont be that crazy next week

Not there now, myself, but FYI, GMR is no more (closed a month or two ago, permanently). So, yes, with less and less rides/experiences, the wait times in the park will rise.

This coming weekend is princess half so Monday may have overflow tourists from that

This week is always very busy! Much of the northeast has school vacation and with Monday being President's Day and the end of the week is always the Princess Marathon(s). We have been this week the last 3 years and always very busy. We did go on an EMH morning though each year and hit TSMM right at RD, TOT and RnRc (multiple times) and GMR and/or depending on year Star Tours all within 2 hours.

it's the week after a 3 day weekend, it's closer to a summer crowd so yes it can be like that... (and all the parks are like that, not just HS). there's also competitons going on in espn so the larger groups are here now as well and they will easily back up a ride when 1 or 2 of them get in line.

keep in mind, he decided that he wasn't going to go in any line partially because he had somewhere to be that afternoon. He also is a local and showed up without fastpasses for anything and forget about the tier system. It's not uncommon for a local to go for a couple hours, skip the long lines because we can go back again another time. He also did find fastpasses but for later in the day when he wasn't going to be there..

For a local without kids that isn't into star wars, the park is just a few rides and maybe some fireworks. For someone who has never been, has kids or loves star wars, not much is closed..

I think it has but this is what I think others may think something different, I do think the shorter wait has be come the new normal and now the new normal is a long wait,

you heard wrong, GMR is opened.

I'm very glad to hear this, but confused. When we were there in December, we were told the ride would be closing later that month to make room for Star Wars attraction... After just googling, it now seems that any potential closing date will be in 2018. Apologies for any confusion. The CM who shared this with us seemed pretty confident when she shared it with us!
