Is DHS that bad right now?

I'm very glad to hear this, but confused. When we were there in December, we were told the ride would be closing later that month to make room for Star Wars attraction... After just googling, it now seems that any potential closing date will be in 2018. Apologies for any confusion. The CM who shared this with us seemed pretty confident when she shared it with us!

Honestly, don't trust the CMs when it comes to this. Sometimes they get wrapped up in rumors too, sometimes they make things up, sometimes they are given the wrong information...and a CM really shouldn't be saying so and so ride will be closing down anyways unless Disney has officially announced it. There is a rumor that GMR would close sometime this year to be turned into another ride but at least right now no it's not closed.

I never saw that either. It's hard to believe that they would remove the hat to restore the theater as the centerpiece and then tear it down.

I loved the Star Wars night time show. We saw it on our last night, but I would have watched it every night if I knew how awesome it was.

Yeah Mickey is the only rumor for GMR. Star Wars has nothing to do with that attraction and its in the middle of the park so that makes no sense.

It will be two half day visits for me on my upcoming trip.

Just saw a video from a vlogger who want to DHS yesterday (was walking through the gates as the park opened).

The wait times seemed crazy for a mid-week February --- 35 minutes for TSMM at 9:15 .. 50-70+ minutes for most of the other rides shortly after and he was only there for a few hours. He was trying to get same-day fast passes and of course had no luck except GMR.

Is it just that the crowds have nowhere to go BUT the 5 rides that the queues get that long THAT quick?

Just curious as I am planning on going to DHS in late march (where it will be more crowded) (but on an morning EMH day) and wasn't planning on getting Fast Passes (instead using them for the afternoon hop to MK).

Our expectations aren't super high (especially now) and I guess as long as we can get on Star Tours, TSMM and maybe GMR in the first EMH we'll be happy and then just do shows and stuff until we leave after noon.

I also saw Tim's video,the way I look it is that DHS better open up Toy Story land and Star Wars land as soon possible because the truth is that I've had way too many visits to the park recently that were somewhat similar to his visit.I never go to this park at opening but if overall crowds are higher than average and a lot of people decide on DHS on a particular day I can see the lines being that bad that early,simply put a lot of people visit Disney,a lot!! and DHS just does not have enough headliner attractions.Look at the park map,the park used to be small and they just cut away like at least a third of what it used to be along with attractions like Lights Motors and the Backlot tour that would hold thousands and spread people out through the park.The only way I go to the park now is to have a FP for one of the big three rides and to maybe see the Frozen show and maybe get on GMR if the wait isn't too bad.Even scarier is a few visits I've done on truly dead days where I've walked in the park around 2-3pm and by 5-6pm I've done all I wanted to do,the truth is the park needs like 5-6 major rides,and I don't think even the two new major additions are going to have 5-6.

For the first time ever I was decently upset by the vlog. I love them, but his assessment of the day was pretty unfair I thought. He admitted that he had made all his FPs for another park that day (one of them being the coveted RoL, which when I keep checking in my FP calendar under my AP is always unavailable at the 30 day mark) and then he somehow expected to be able to ditch all of them and get a 1st tier ride right away in DHS? And then goes on to say "I can't ride anything right now". Well, yes, you can. You can wait 60mins like everyone else does, like I did when I was a kid, like I do now when all my FPs are gone. The average viewer going on a vacation doesn't know or need to know the particular circumstances of his day, but to them it looks like this park stinks, when it doesn't, it was just framed that way. To top it off the title pretty much said DHS was the worst, and that made me sad, cuz it wasn't fair...at least from my point of view. I always expect those kind of wait times, and when they are less I feel like I've won the lottery, that way I am never upset when I am at Disney, especially DHS where there are 4 big rides I love so much

Since I haven't been there in two years, at first the video made me nervous because I've never seen Tim so irritated by a park, so I thought "wow, DHS must be in TERRIBLE shape!" But as I continued watching I realized he really wasn't trying to enjoy the park...muppets, star tours, beauty and the beast, frozen, little mermaid, Indiana jones, citizens of hollywood, launch bay...there was more to do that he wasn't into because as a local he's been there many times, so I didn't think it was a fair representation of the park. From everything I've seen and read about DHS, Disney does need to amp up the entertainment (which brings me back to not forgiving them for firing Mulch, Sweat and Sheers), however I thought the vlog misrepresented the park.

I would take many of Tim's assessments with a giant grain of salt. He's entertaining to watch and see the changes in the parks, but only sees it all as a local. He doesn't pay attention at all to how a vacationer would go, so he misses things like President's day week affecting the crowds. He recently had a vlog that clearly showed he had no idea how Magic Bands actually work. And that's fine - just don't watch him for planning a trip, watch him because he's a good vlogger and you get to see WDW (and Universal) when you're at home.

Seems like that's the case. I am here now. We usually go during slower times but we took my niece since she's on school vacation. We are still having fun, but never again during this time,lol.

I think it has but this is what I think others may think something different, I do think the shorter wait has be come the new normal and now the new normal is a long wait,

I agree. The average standby times are "significantly" shorter considering the previous standard was 100+ min all day long (or FP access only), but it's still a solid wait time equivalent to the other E tickets.

The issue really is there needs to be a greater density of attractions to disperse the crowds, not just two(?) new rides for Toy Story and two new rides for Stars Wars. Even some simpler C or D ticket dark or carnival rides would help.

DW and I said something similar while watching this VLOG. They are always so positive, they have even made many videos saying they try to always be positive and take time off of VLOGing when they feel they can't be positive. Then he is negative through the entire video. Many people have mentioned several things that contributed to his poor experience but in addition to all this he saw TSMM had a low wait time. He even mentioned the wait time was not bad. But he still didn't ride it, he walks away and meets Moana. Then after walking away from a ride with a good wait time he complains. Maybe he was just having a bad day? Everyone is entitled to that. But the whole VLOG was unlike him. Yesterday's Epcot video was better though!
