I am considering purchasing the DDE for our trip in Aug. for 6nites at the BWI. We usually east 1 or 2 meals(Buffet or table service) a day. Has anyone really saved ? :confused3

If you intend to eat at a restaurant once or twice a day, you will definitely save money. If you have an AP, the breakeven point for the DDE is $250.

we saved quite a bit - but we go often and always have table service dinners with adult beverages....our usual bill at CG is over $200 so that almost pays for the card right there...

if you like table service it's great!! You also get valet parking free!!

Grandma and I went to the World in March and I made back my $50.00 really quickly since we ordered wine most places and had a sit down lunch and dinner every day. It's handy that the discount includes the wine, which I would drink whether it was included or not, but it does help you make back the initial investment and start saving a lot faster!

I go friday I'll let you know. :cheer2:

The DDE saved us money and we ate at only 2 buffets, counter service at AK 3 times, and the POP foodcourt for breakfast every morning and dinners a couple of times and snacks at night. I would think if your eating at 1 or 2 table service a day you will save money.

It saves you 20% on your total bill, so it is easy to figure out if it is worth it, remember that you need to have an AP to get the card, or be a florida resident. In 2 days when we went in February we just about saved the cost of DDE, so when we go for 2 weeks in August it will nicely save us some money...

We started saving money by Day 3 of our first trip with the DDE card. We are a couple hundred ahead now, with 2 more trips to go. VERY good deal for us.

Thanks everyone, I do have an A/P so I think I will get the DDE!

I was suspicious at first, but had no problem with our DDE last week. The card paid for itself by the second day.

mpbs - depending on when in August you are going you may want to order you card asap...it took a while for ours to get here. :)

We saved quite a bit with our DDE card on the last trip and plan on using it again in September. I love how alcoholic beverages are included in the plan.

We used ours and saved by having it....used it at Cindy's for dinner (almost 30.00 savings there), beaches and cream, WCC for Breakfast, Trails' End for Breakfast, LeCellier for lunch....I felt it was a good investment and more than paid for itself. We didn't get the cards until the day we arrived home from vacation....but we used the letter, no questions asked.

Thanks for the tip, we will be arriving Aug7, I will call today and hopefully it will be here on time (I'll ask if the can hold it at my hotel).

Has anyone compared the DDE card to the MYW deal (not the free one but the $35 per person version) as to which is the better deal?

I know that you get taxes and tip included for the $35. Am thinking I could buy about $42 worth of food including tip and tax for a break even amount but since math was not my strong suit in school I could be wrong. Often am.

I am not much interested in eating more than I need and am thinking that the DDE might be better for me. JMO

We got the AP (and ordered DDE) as we were able to get $100 off rack rate a night (7 night stay) for AKL. If we had paid rack we would have gone with the MYW dining plan. The room savings more than paid for itself versus any savings with th MYW dining plan.

It makes a big difference on where you are staying & how much your AP discount would be. I had a package with dining but when I worked the numbers I'm saving about $700 with an AP & DDE. When I compared I also added in app, dessert tax & tip. I just hope I'm right. When I did the math my DS11 was considered a child so I'm probably spending a few hundred more for him.
