Is CSR THAT bad?

I haven't seen the bad reviews you are talking about unless you are referring to people saying the resort is too spread out.
We LOVE CSR!!!!!! :flower:

Just remember, problems can happen at any resort. I know quite a few people who have stayed at CSR, and they've loved it! So enjoy!

We picked CSR for our upcoming trip. We are just 2 adults, but I just get a peaceful feeling when I look at the resort photos. It's just what we need after a long day in the parks. I can't wait! Maggie

We've stayed at all the moderates and the only one we've returned to is CSR. We also have reservations for August at CSR. We absolutely LOVE the resort for so many reasons. Yes, it's big, but we stayed last June in the ranchos, clear at the back of the resort, and from our room to the Pepper Market was a 6 or 7 minute walk and a beautiful one at that!!! The Pepper Market has very good food with a lot of variety, there are 2 gamerooms, a great pool and slide!!!, surreys to ride around the resort, great bus service.....I can't think of any negatives in our stays there (except having to leave  ). Some say they didn't like the conventioneers walking around, but I truly never noticed. I guess I was having too much fun. I think that you really get a lot more for your money at CSR compared to the other moderates. IMHO... :goodvibes

I stayed at CSR last week for a conference trip to Disney, and I absolutely loved the resort. I loved the fact that it was spread out. I stayed in Ranchos 6B, although this building was pretty far from the El Centro, it was a nice leisurely walk, and I did use the busses at times. The Pepper Market is great, I thought the food was excellent. This is now my favorite resort, and I can't wait to return!!!

Love reading the great comments on CSR! Can't wait to stay there in Dec. We stayed there 1/00 and this will be the first resort we have stayed at twice. I honestly don't remember much about the resort - we were park commandos back then. Now that we have been to WDW many times we spend more time at the resort. I only took one picture of the resort last time so I plan on taking a bunch of pictures this time (inspired by Buzz2001!). I especially can't wait to see it decorated for the holidays!

We stayed at CSR once. The theming is very nice as is the main pool area.

The thing we really didn't care for was the food court. The food wasn't that great and I really didn't like that we had an automatic gratuity tacked onto the bill.

It wasnt that bad, the things we didnt like were the long walks to the food court, the food court because of the way things worked ( I think they changed that, maybe someone could help me) and because it has lots of conventions there, it doesnt seem like theres many familys (maybe it was the time we went.) But other than that its a nice resort, the pool is awesome and the landscaping is beautiful. You should go and try it for yourselves, you may like it!

CSR has an internal shuttle system so there is no walking if you don't want to walk. Just wait at the designated stops and a shuttle cart will bring you to and from the main building to your room.

I stayed at CSR is the Casitas for one night in Dec of 03. My only other experience had been the WL for 10 days and I loved it. Needless to say, after one night, I was glad to be checking in to the WL. For me, the resort was too large, I didn't care for the open corridors and I felt like the room had way too much color (I think one of my not so nice comments was that I felt like I was sleeping in a clown car). We did consider CSR for our upcoming family vacation as the pool, etc. seemed to be something our DS8 would enjoy. I am glad to see all the positive comments, maybe we will try a short stay there again. Just my 2 cents.

Rooms have been rehabbed since 2003 and the colors toned down.

Our first choice for a moderate. A stunning resort day or night, with three distinct themes to enjoy on your walks, amenities for all and a nice mix of tropical and southwest design.

Size - not as spread out as CBR.....CSR built surrounding a 15 acre round lake....CBR built surrounding a 45 acre oblong lake. We didn't feel like the walk to anywhere was unreasonable. But if you like a tighter resort then POFQ would be the way to go. Depending on your room at POR you may have alittle walk to the food court area.

Convention - just more room for us at the pool and everywhere else!

Food Court - we think the food is very good and a step up from the other food courts. Portions huge and we share. Feel is nicer. On one trip no one seated us nor got us our drinks (we hit it at an off time), so we asked that the "tip" be removed and it was, no discussion. Take the food to go, beautiful resort to go eat outside.

Pool Area - can't be beat, big & spacious with lots of seating, best slide of mods (and some deluxe), great theme, bath, arcade, food and bar, playground, largest hot tub, beach volleyball.......

I have never been to CSR but from what I gather, the thing that most people don't like is the vastness of it. I am kinda torn between it and POFQ. I hate sprawling resorts but the pool area looks so cool. I'm probably leaning more towards POFQ due to the small size of the resort, but I would also like to try CSR!

:earsgirl: I think this post highlights a good point, and that being everyone has their own taste as far as resorts go and whether they like someplace or not. We just got back, and stayed at POFQ and BWI. Before I left, I would have bet money we would have been much happier at BWI, just because it was a deluxe resor, and next to Epcot, etc. And almost everyone in our party was overall much happier with POFQ. From the pics of CSR, it looks absolutely gorgeous. I wouldn't hesitate staying there, and actually that may be my pick for our trip next year. :goodvibes

The CSR is awesome and we love it.

I don't understand, though, why people complain it is too spread out. Um hello? Ever been to CBR? My husband and I have walked the entire property a few times and never feel it is "vast." But to each his own.

I've been hooked on the CSR since my honeymoon. Top notch room, service, food, and CMs. I have nothing but good things to say about it. Try it and form an opinion for yourself.

We stayed at CSR last Thanksgiving after staying at CBR the previous year. I guess I'm in the minority on this thread, but we really didn't care for CSR. The room was nice enough, but I was surprised that our dresser drawers were broken and everytime you tried to open them they fell down (I thought the rooms had been redone the previous year). We liked the food court at CBR better, and I was not happy to find out that they tacked a gratuity on your tab automatically. My kids liked getting hot chocolate every morning at CBR and they didn't offer it at CSR (at least not when we were there). It really limited what they could have to drink at breakfast. The pool was nice, but we only visited it once, so it didn't make up for the distance to the main building, the long bus ride back at night (we were next to last), and those darned drawers! This year we will be trying POFQ. I hope the drawers work!

While we love the deluxes, we often stay at CSR. The resort is very nice, and the rates are tough to beat. We always rent a car, so the distance to El Centro doesn't matter. :earsboy:

We stayed at CSR at the end of May/beginning of June and absolutely LOVED everything about it! Just check out my earlier posts.

We've stayed at WL and earlier this month CSR, and we love both. CSR is a beautiful resort, everything was perfect! Try it! :sunny:

We've stayed at CSR 3x & really love it there. Love the food at PM, the pool & slide, the pool bar, the Cabana quiet pool, the hammocks on the sand, the beautiful landscaping & the lovely, romantic lighting in the evening. Housekeeping has always been good. We've found the bus service to be the best of all of the places we've stayed. There can be a lot of convention folk at El Centro, so with bad timing PM can get very busy. The resort is pretty spread out, but that's one of the things we like about it (we prefer POR to POFQ for that reason).

you guys rock! thanks for all the input, but guess what? my DH "put his foot down",and we're staying @ WL,lol, thanks anyways guys, great thread. :wave2:
