Is CSR geared toward children...

A friend of mine wants to book at CSR next year as she likes the looks of the resort, as well as I do. While shopping at Disney Store this weekend, the CM told us that it was a convention resort and might not have all the perks for children as the other moderate resorts.

Does anyone have information on this? For those who stayed with children, did they have activities?

What might they not have that others do???

I think the CSR has amenities for business travelers and features to attraction conventions (meetings room space, fitness center, etc). I've not stayed there but from what I've read it has one of the nicest pools on the property - certainly would appeal to most children. Some folks have reported seeing business travelers there but also many families. It is also one of the more spread out resorts from what I've read - there seems to be some argument about how much time one spends walking to get to the bus stop/restaurant and so forth.

I'm not sure if any of the moderates have planned childrens activities like the deluxe resorts do. I didn't notice that at the POFQ when we stayed there 4 yrs ago.

If the theming appeals to you I think you should book it. There is a person that keeps a very nice CSR website so perhaps do a search on other CSR posts and see if you can find it.

CSR is one of our favorite resorts! We have a DD 8yo and a DS 4yo and they ask to stay here. The pool is the best thru out the resorts, and there is an area next to the pool with a playground sand pit and arcade. The grounds are absolutely beautiful it is spread out but you can request to be closer to the pool area if
needed. Again we highly recommend it!princess: pirate:

CSR is great for kids!! Our ds11 loves the pool, slide, playground, 2 arcades and everything else. He chose the CSR for our June trip a few weeks ago and we all enjoyed it. I hear about the conventions on this board and both times we have stayed at the CSR we have not even noticed them. I know there were conventions going on both of our stays, but only saw some conventioneers in El Centro, but they are NO problem!! Have a great time!!

Unless your kids are up very late and hanging around the bar, I can't imagine that the conventioneers would affect them one way or the other. DS really likes CSR and could probably spend several life times at the dig site and the arcade. Now, it has a lot fewer trees than other places (because of the 'Southwest' theme) so in the summer the kids might get a little warm walking to Peppermarket and back, but I can't think of any other downsides at all.

They don't (from what I recall) have kids activities like GF and Poly, but it's never been an issue for me since I can't afford to stay there! You should also be aware that some of those activities at GF, Poly (like the Neverland club and such) are available to guests at other Disney resorts.

Sounds like you got an opinion (which is fine, of course) from the Disney Store employee which, come to think of it, is what your getting from me too!

Thanks so much for all your help.

Again, the CM wasn't sure. He stated that it MIGHT not have the children's activities so i thought I would post here and ask people who have stayed there.

Don't think I can afford the POLY unless some really good codes come out or when I start real estate, I sell a couple of houses a month. Guess time will tell...

I stayed at CSR with my daughter for her 4th birthday in May. She loved it. CSR is not kid friendly in the way that a value resort is with all the icons, but none of the moderates or deluxes are. The pool is great and the playground is fun. The bus service was great too, never crowded. I actually like the fact that CSR is a convention resort. I'd much rather share a resort with business people who don't really use the pools or ride the busses - more room for us. I'd stay there again without hestitation.

sure there are people there for conventions- in the convention center- you wont find them out by the pool, etc. but likely at lounge or pepper market for meals. My kids love it there. They love the sandlot playground and the huge pool and kiddie pool. They love riding the surrey bikes and hanging out on the beach playing or in the hammocks. They have a nice game room and in the lobby a area for the kids to watch tv and color while you check in.
