a four year old? My daughter LOVES dinosaurs, and last year when we went she wasn't tall enough to ride. I'm betting that this year, she will be tall enough, but am wondering if it's too scary. To be honest, I've only been on the ride one time, and that was way back before they changed the name from Dinosaur, and I don't remember much about it except that it was really jerky.

Opinions?

This is a very scary, dark, loud ride. It is also very bumpy with a lot of violent shaking and movement of the ride vehicle.

I would not put my 4 year old through it.

BTW, the name was changed to Dinosaur a few years ago when Disney released the movie with the same name.

Oh so I have the name backwards? It USED to be CTE and NOW it's Dinosaur? Duh!

It is very dark, noisy and scary. When we saw our picture that they take during the ride, the only one looking at the camera was DH! DD10 and DS7 had their heads buried and so did I!!! We bought the picture because it was so amusing.

My 4 year old loved it but he loved all the "bigger/scarier" rides. My 5 year old on the other hand wouldn't go near it(and I would never try to talk her into ridding something she didn't feel comfotable with). I agree it is a very dark jerky ride so I guess it depends on how you felt your child would deal with that.

It is pretty intense. It has some great effects during the ride, but I keep my eyes closed most of the time! My older daughter rode it when she was 6, and even now, two years later, she prefers not to ride it again. I would ride it without your child again and then see what you think.

:scared1: I love scary movies and never get scared easy, but for some reason I couldn't even keep my eyes open on this ride. Maybe it's just me, but I would think a 4 year old would be pretty freaked out. My 9 year old little sis was riding it with me and I was covering her eyes and had mine closed too. :rotfl:

I was very scared the first time I rode it, and I am not telling my age. My kids told me I had a death grip on each of them. It seemed so real, I did not think we were going to make it out of there, I think I actually grabbed them to say goodbye.

After the first ride, I mostly find it jerky like you said. But that first time riding, oh, man that was scary.

I'm 13 and I'm still terriefied of it. Maybe next time I won't be so scared. But my 8 yr old ( she was 6 or 7 at the time) sister loved it.

Maybe next time I'll actually open my eyes!!

The last we were on it my dw was afraid my ds10 (he was 7 then) would be too scared at the end when the carnatour lunges out at you so she pushed his head down so he wouldn't see. He did not like that. He wanted to see the carnatour but couldn't. The end picture showed dw pushing down on ds's head. We regret not getting the picture. Looking back now, it was funny!

It' s miserable! We have ridden it twice, the last time DD was 8. It's loud, dark and very rough. They jostle you around so hard that I ynderstand now why the CM kindly reminded me to remove my sunglasses from the top of my head, where I always place them on indoor rides. They would have been lost forever. Never again, for a 40+ year old woman!

My 8 yr old still hasn't been on it, and I doubt she will next trip, either. Your DD may love dinosaurs, but she probably isn't used to them trying to eat her ;) I'm 41, but this ride gets my heart pumping hard every time.

I was absolutely scared stupid!!! Made a deal with Lisa(12) that I would go on something she loved, but I hated,, If she would go on something I loved that she hated... OH MY LIFE.......Wont be making that mistake again

I scream like a baby on it! :scared1:

All kids are different so only you can judge your dd........but I wouldn't take my 5 year old on it. I think he would hate it. Loud, jerky, and IMO scary. Not his thing. Some kids love that kind of thing though.

Why don't you go on it first and see what you think since it's been so long since you rode it. I think that will help you decide right away. Have fun!

:wave2: I guess I was being jerked around too much to be scared. I thought it was a great ride if I wasn't so worried about getting thrown around. I thought the theme was great, just way too rough. I won't ride it again. My 29 year old son said it was too rough for him too and he loves most of the "thrill" rides. JMO. :wave2:

I LOVED this ride because it is just as thrilling as being on a rollercoaster even though you don't go fast or do any flips or anything. But I went on it two years ago, when I was 23, and I seriously screamed the WHOLE TIME. I had my head in my little sister's lap. I was mostly scared to open my eyes because I kept anticipating something jumping out at me. The ride is fun ina a "let's scream our hearts out even though we know it's fake for the fun of it" kind of way. If your daughter is afraid of the dark, is jumpy, or is likely to forget that the dinosaurs are fake (they look extremely real) then I would skip it.

I freaked out on this ride. DH rode in front of me and said I didn't stop screaming through the whole thing...from start to finish..

My pic on this one was rather funny, too...I was pretty much curled up into a little ball!

This ride scared me and my 8yoDD. It's dark and jerky and loud and when that animatronic dino roars right my my face <shudder>...let's just say, we'll not be trying that again.
