Is Coronado Springs safe for peanut allergies?

We have felt really good about taking our 5 year old son to Disney even though he has a peanut allergy. We are staying at Coronado Springs. I just read on the board somewhere tonight under the thread "Resort Dealbreakers" that they won't stay at CSR, because their restaurants are not owned by Disney, thus they are not as accomodating for food allergies. Is there any truth about it not being a safe place to eat for people with severe food allergies? Thanks for any help in calming our fears!

We stayed at Cornado Springs a few years ago with out 2 DS with nut allergies. We did not have any problems. They were as helpful as anywhere else on WDW property. :thumbsup2

They also do have a area that cooks with peanut oil. We considered this place but the more we found we ended up ruling it out. Is it set in stone or do you have the ability to consider another place?

the area that cooks with peanut oil is (or at least was) the area with chinese food.

If you stay away from that specific food station you should be fine.

I have a severe peanut allergy and we have stayed at CSR 4 times since I was diagnosed. Never had a problem

I've stayed at Coronado Springs with someone with peanut, egg, milk, shellfish, and other allergies without incident. (We didn't have a choice of where we stayed in that instance and didn't eat many other places, but it worked out fine and she had no problems finding foods she could eat there.)

I stayed there recently and, except for the Chinese food station at PM, I cannot see how it should be too much of a problem.

And, if I am correct, I am pretty sure MANY of the restaurants at disney are not actually owned by them. A lot are operated by other companies (for example, the restaurant in Italy in Epcot is not run by Disney)

That was me who posted that. We've got a very complex list of allergies. I don't worry about safety as much as I worry about there actually being options for foods to eat. The WDW owned restaurants just have so many more options than the non-Disney owned ones. As far as I know, CSR is the only resort that has non-Disney owned dining establishments. Many of the restaurants around the World Showcase and at DTD are not Disney owned as well. There are so many options of places that ARE Disney owned that I see no reason to dine at the ones that aren't since I know just how well the ones owned by Disney will take care of us. They REALLY spoil us.
