Okay, another dilema!!!
As if choosing between the FT package and possible AP rates wasn't enough!!:jester:

We are planning to do the MNSSHP in Oct. We went last yr and had a BLAST!! But one thing I remember is saying it would have been nice to be able to stay at a monorail resort since we were at MK so late.

So for 7 nights.....with the new FT package we were quoted CSR for $1429 or Cont for $2014!!
right now we have CSR reserved.

As much as me and DD love CSR, DH isn't that wild about it.
So now I am really wondering about Cont???!!!
That quick ride on the monorail or even to just walk back from MK!!!! ??????

CSR & CR are a couple of our fave resorts. If hubby isn't too crazy about CSR, go ahead and give CR a try. For the monorail resorts, CR would be my first pick. We really liked the CR when we stayed there last year, large rooms, nice pool area, good restaurants. You can't go wrong either way, though.

That really helped, didn't it???????

.....and you will especially appreciate the convenience of staying at the CR after MNSSHP when you can walk back to your room in about 10 minutes at the end of the night! (no waiting for busses!) yes, it is definitely worth the extra $585!!!

If you can swing the extra $500+ then I would definately stay at the Contemporary. The Contemporary rooms are the largest standard rooms on property and they layout is great. Especially in the bathroom. We love the fact that the toilet has its own door that separates it from the tub/shower and sinks. If you can get a room in the North Tower, it is the closest to the MK (I know SOG is there now but I am not sure whether they are in the North Tower or spread around the property).

The way we look at it is that our time IS money. I am sure you know how long it takes to get around from CSR to MK even if you can find a bus that isn't full. If the focus of your trip is the MK, then the CR cannot be beat for location. You will be back and forth from there quicker than anyone staying anywhere else.

Have a great trip!

I am big fan of CSR but a bigger fan of CR. I would stay at CR if the room was a tower room.

We are trying thre CR for the first time - in a few weeks (look at my date clock at the bottom fo this note).

We could not get a tower room (only C level was available and that was an extra $1,500 - ouch food money the week).

I will do a report on the wings at the CR when I return. :)

Pooh,

If you have the time, I would keep calling CRO or whoever you booked your trip through. The other day I called CRO twice to add days to our reservation at the BW in November. The first time I was told there was no availability. One hour later the CM I spoke to was able to book my dates. So I would definately keep trying as things are getting cancelled by people all the time.

Good luck!

We loved the Contemporary when we stayed there, being that close to MK is awesome!

Okay, so I decided to go with CR.:D

I am SO EXCITED!!!
But now....DH is afraid it will be too crowded, too much noise, and it might feel too much "like a HOTEL"!!
He is also thinking too many little kids....because it is so close to MK.

Please help me convince him it won't feel like the Ramada Inn!!

He didn't like CSR because there were too many business people. And he said no way to All Star this time...too many small kids. And we've already done CBR like 4 times.

The only other one he seems to agree with right now is Boardwalk. But DD and I really want a monorail resort!

So tell me more great things about CR so I can convince him.

I don't think the Contemporary would have MORE small children than the other resorts. They are everywhere! It's just luck whether you are around the wild ones or not!

Hello, cindyfan :)

I've stayed in the Contemporary Resort many times, and it's wonderful.

You won't feel at all like you're staying at a Ramada Inn!

Is there a chance you can get the tower? The garden wings are nice, but the tower is UNBELIEVABLE.

It's not noisy or crowded. It's simply wonderful.

Ask for a room as high up as available for a view to knock your socks off. I always like the Bay Lake view best. It's so peaceful and beautiful.

One of my favorite memories of the Contemporary is waking up to see the sunrise over Bay Lake. The cast members were always busy at work down below, using their tractors to "comb" the sand into neat designs (i.e. Mickey Mouse and friends).

As a cindyfan, though, you might opt for the castle view :p and your own private balcony for a showing of the fireworks. Those sunsets are something to behold, too.

Don't forget to watch the Electrical Water Pageant, as it floats by your room. The music and lights always bring a smile to my face.

Whether you're in the wings or tower, be sure to visit the California Grill (at least for a drink) to watch the fireworks, too.

I always feel like I am in this amazing city of the future when I stay at the Contemporary Resort, mostly because of the monorail.

The marina is awesome, too. It's the BEST place to rent watermouse boats. I love those! Zipping around Bay Lake and over to the Seven Seas Lagoon is so much fun.

Best wishes!

I would actually choose the wings over the tower myself, especially a 1st floor room (but then I'm afraid of heights). It is a great resort, my son's favorite. You cannot beat having the monorail right there, you really can't. It is just sooooo convenient. Besides Shades of Green, it is the largest regular room on sight (444 square feet). If you do go with a wing room, try to get a room with that starts with either a 5 or a 7 (5 and 6 is south wing, 7 and 8 is north, with 5 and 7 being closest to the tower). Our first stay, and our favorite room (so far) is 5111 (translation, 5 for South Wing, 1st Floor, room 11), and it was great! We had a patio, and the pool was just a few steps from there. I think you and your DH will love it.

So far we've always stayed at the Contemporary and have loved it. We've gotten a Lagoon Side Tower room and each night we watch the Electrical Water Pageant as it floats by. It's one of my favorite Disney things. If you're a MK fan, then of course the other side would be nice. Good restaurants, huge gameroom, monorail, cute large rooms, and the views are spectacular. I don't think there's any way you could walk into the Contemporary and think you're at a Ramada or Holiday Inn. I'm afraid of heights, but I "brave it" for the view.

I knew CR was close to MK when we booked it, but I didn't realize HOW close until we got there. We stayed in the North Garden Wing and I was amazed at how close Space Mountain was to the parking lot (the proximity of the wings to the self parking is another plus, we were able to park our car right near our room). I don't know how important this is to you, but they have an awesome arcade--we had one day with very bad weather (lightning and tornado warnings) and the kids LOVED it there. We never stayed at CSR so I can't compare, but the CR was great.

Thanks for all the comments!!!:teeth:
I am really excited all over again!!!!:teeth:
I think once we get there.....DH will see it was a good decision!

 :sunny: Hello, cindyfan. I would choose the CR, as we are reserved there this summer for 5 eves in the Tower (14th floor CL suite), as part of our WDW stay! It is one of our FAV disney-owned resorts, and the most MAGICAL of all (IMOHO). ;) The view from the Tower is breath-taking, with the lights and the scenery...like a fairytale. The access to everything, including the monorail is heavenly. There's something very nostalgic about the CR, and we love the "feel" of WALT'S Presence. Enjoy!! :)

we have stayed at the comtemporary and it is very nice...but we now stay at the polynesian. It has alot for everyone. great food, awesome pool, monorail, close to transpo center, very relaxing.......

If you are really interested in the CR then by all means try it. You wont be disappointed. Just remember once you stay at the best deluxes with mono service, you will never go back to the other resorts.:D :p

I would say it's not worth over $500 more. Only stayed there one night several years ago, but it was old and the room(garden wing) decorating was awful. It has the feel of a convention hotel, no Disney magic in my opinion. I'd keep the newer resort reservation.
