is concierge level worth it?

The 2 times we've stayed in the tower club at the CR the lounge has always been empty or just a few other people. The CMs are wonderful and somehow always knew our names.

Not sure if this is a word, but exclusivity is a good way to describe the Tower club. Rooms are very limited up there, only 16 in total. Mostly suites and only 5 regular concierge rooms. This would make it a very quiet floor, you'd have the lounge almost all to yourselves and I imagine a very, very personalized stay.

That is a perfect way to describe it. Except for the one or two times we saw another guest we were alone in the lounge for our week stay. I felt like I was the only one on that floor. I never saw anyone walking to thier rooms or using the elevator. It felt very exclusive!

Can someone compare the ambiance of the two clubs (Tower and Atrium, I think?) at the CR?

If food, beverage and pre-planning are the same, I am curious to learn the difference between the two levels at the CR.

Any additional perks to staying on the 14th?
Here are the differences in between the 12th floor Atrium Club and 14th floor Tower Club at the Contemporary.

With the Atrium Club a Magic Kingdom View room has to be a request, just like with a Bay Lake View room. So the only thing you will be guaranteed is a room up there, however you may not get the view you want.

With the Tower Club there are a total of 16 rooms, 5 of which are standard rooms and the rest being 1 & 2 Bedroom Suites, a Vice Presidential Suite and a Presidential Suite. With the standard rooms once again there is no guarantee of a Magic Kingdom or Bay Lake View. However with any of the Suite rooms it will say Magic Kingdom or Bay Lake and that means you are guaranteed to have that specific room view. Chances are you could get a Magic Kingdom with a standard room since 4 of them are on the Magic Kingdom side and one is on the Bay Lake side. Of course that is not a 100% guarantee, because if you were to stay there they could be taken by other guests. So that means you would be in the Standard Room on the Bay Lake side.

The lounge on the 12th floor is bigger with more seating then the one on the 14th floor. However since they took out 2 or 3 rooms then the 12th floor lounge should be a lot bigger. Although the lounge on the 14th floor also offers seating outside on the balcony, which is something that is not offered on the 12th floor lounge.

If noise is not a factor with the 12th floor you can hear everything going down on the 4th floor, although with the expectation of singing going on at Chef Mickey's I don't find it that bad. If noise is a factor then the 14th floor is great because you don't look down to the 4th floor. However that means things would be a lot quieter, if you can live with that.

Finally both floors serve the exact same foods for breakfast, afternoon snacks, 5:00 PM Hors D'Ouves and 8:00 PM deserts & cordials.

So in the end the 12th floor Atrium Club is less expensive then the 14th floor Tower Club, even though on both floors you would get the exact same service. The 14th floor is more expensive because fewer number of rooms and because of the Suites.

Thanks TammiMcMan and CR Resort Fan 4 Life, that is exactly the kind of comparison I was looking for.:goodvibes

I have to take 14th floor CR out of consideration as we are a family of 5. It is taking until 2009 to save up the cost of RPC, saving up for a suite on the 14th would probably require waiting until 2012

Now I have a request that has to do with percentages (which is MATH, which explains why I am asking for someone else to run the numbers :rotfl: )

Castle views are request only with both Royal Palm Club at the GF and Atrium Club at the CR. We had a beautiful castle view room, 4401, in May 2006 at the RPC, granted to us through the wisdom of the staff. But it didn't appear that all rooms along the hall, before the turn by the elevator, had the same view.

My question is: how many standard rooms are there in the RPC and what percentage has the castle view and how many rooms are there in the Atrium Club and what percentage has the castle view?

I am just trying to figure out what the chance is that my DH can enjoy concierge services while I get to see my castle from my room?

Can you tell that I have to occupy myself for a very long time before the trip :lmao:

Thanks for tolerating me and my OCD

You're welcome and to answer one you're question the number of rooms on the Atrium Club which are located on the Magic Kingdom side is 24 rooms.

If your wondering how I got that answer I went to Allearsnet.com and clicked on the map of the Contemporary and then counted the number of rooms located on one side of the Tower, because the 12th floor has the same amount of rooms as does all the floors, with the grand total being 48 rooms. 24 rooms on the Magic Kingdom side and 24 rooms on the Bay Lake side. The expections are the 5th floor because there are no Magic Kingdom views and the 14th floor because there is only a total of 16 rooms.

When it comes to planning a Disney vacation, I think OCD is a requirement ;) . Now for RPC, you have the 3rd floor 4301 - 4309 and 4th floor 4401 - 4409 as the standard concierge rooms with dead on castle views. The 2nd floor has the same, but they're all honeymoon suites. Quick math for RPC is about 25% of the rooms having a castle view. The majority do overlook the garden courtyard and beach/lagoon.

Tammi - how many standard RPC rooms are there in total?

I am sure glad that you all understand my Disney obsession - I am already driving my DH crazy. Though I will admit he actually participated in a WDW related discussion with me for about 10 minutes this morning ;)

Thank you again TammiMcMan and CR Resort Fan 4 Life for the great info!

Thanks for all the great info about CR and GF. Two places we are throwing around for next trip. As far as OP question I find CL to be worth it for our family. With a toddler it is so much easier getting breakfast in the lounge and not having to fight the crowds. That in itself is worth the extra money. So it might seem like a stupid reason for us getting it but my DH and I feel it is worth every penny just for the convenience factor with a little one.

That was probably me. SL definitely feels like a cozy B & B, while the main building is dripping with romance.

The other big difference is that the 14th floor rooms are different in decor than the regular Contemporary rooms. They didn't quite recieve as comprehensive an update as the other rooms.

Do you by any chance have a picture of the rooms? Thanks In Advance.

We have a deluxe room in the RPC booked - are any of those of a castle view?

The deluxes overlook the garden courtyard/pool area. You may be able to see some fireworks and a glimpse of the castle from a deluxe room. It won't be head on, you'll have to look out over your balcony and to the left. The way the building is designed, there is a wing that offers a full view of the castle, then on the corner is the turret which sticks out pretty far. This is where some of the suites are located. The next wing of rooms is facing the courtyard area and the turret itself would block alot of the castle from view.

If you want to do some investigating, this is the link for an aerial view of the Disney property, http://local.live.com/default.aspx?cp=28.411444|-81.586792&style=h&lvl=15&v=1. Using your mouse, position the pointer over the Magic Kingdom (holding down your mouse button and dragging) and center it on your screen. The GF is a little bit down and to the left. There's a zoom tool on the left side of the screen. Pressing the + button once will slowly zoom in. You can get some great detail on the GF from there. To find the deluxe rooms, look for the main building (it's the largest one). Center the building so that you see that octagon shape, with the center turrets and the two turrets on either side. From the turret on the right, follow the roof line back towards the next larger turret. In that area, is where the deluxe rooms are located. If nothing else, it's a fun site to play around with and get your bearings.

Thanks for the link, I love it. This will provide hours of entertainment for me!

Let's see, I started in technology, moved to teaching, so sure, I think travel agent is a good choice for my next career. I definitely love planning as much as I love travelling.

Isn't it fun? I stumbled across it the other day and I've been having a ball with it.
