Thinking about splurging for this level on our next cruise - 14 day Panama Canal on the Wonder. I was on the ship years ago and don't remember it that well (went before I had a kid with an ex and stayed in a Navigator Verandah stateroom). Last two cruises have been on the Fantasy in a regular verandah stateroom with my three year old and hubby. Will the current Wonder feel a bit like a comedown after being on a newer ship like the Fantasy or will it be better because it's a smaller ship and more intimate? How much has the ship been updated in the last 10 years? I normally don't go for the mega ships anyway, but thinking more about amenities, pools/splash pad, and activities available on a smaller ship. Service and food quality are also very important.

Thanks for any advice!

We always try to book a one bedroom suite. Our waitlist just came through on the 4 Jan 2016 cruise in the Wonder from Galveston to San Juan.

The value we put on it is the space in the cabin - not necessarily any other perks. It may be a bit of a let down compared to the Fantasy, but also, if like us, we appreciate the intimacy of the smaller ships. Long story short, if its not a financial strain, I book the suite. Just keep in mind that the deposits are non refundable

Thank you! That's what we were thinking. With a two week trip and a lot of sea days, the space in the cabin would be really useful and we would spend quite a bit of time there. I don't think the smaller ship will bother us that much, as long as it doesn't feel really outdated, and my guess is that DCL has kept the older ships updated well.
