We're only going to WDW for 1-2 nights with our 2.5 year old and are considering staying at one of the MK resorts conceirge levels-I thought it might make life easier to have snacks and breakfast right there. Do they have snacks at night? What about "drinks" for the adults? Since my husband and I would be staying in our room while our dd sleeps until we go to bed...I was thinking that we wouldn't have to travel far for a drink and a snack. But does the concierge provide this????
Also, which hotel has a better concierge...Poly or Contempory??

ps-how do I reset my trip counter?

We stayed Poly Concierge 1st week in Sept. Because we have nothing to compare it to, I'm not sure. Here are my thoughts:

Yes:

They made all of our PS's and got Cindy's breakfast without sweating a thing.

We got to use two jogger strollers for free all week. (They only have two and not many people know they have this).

Hubby loved the after dinner cordials each night. He had a Baily's & coffee each night on the balcony overlooking the lagoon.

Lot's of water.

Easy breakfast with kids-cereal & milk mostly for them, but juice muffins coffee etc.. We could do it pretty fast and get going. Plus, any time during the day we could ask for more milk and they would get it.

Refrigerator in the room.

No:

Some people think the food at dinner could be dinner. I never felt that. More like Hors' d oeuvres. But they were good-Sushi one night, spring rolls, chicken sates. My only complaint about the Poly is that it is Polynesian food each night so you are kind of sick of it by the end of the week. Maybe another hotel would have more styles of food.

I'm a wine snob so I did not like the wine selections. But, if you don't care, it's nice to come back @ 3:00, go for a quick dip with kids, come back and have a glass of wine & hors d'oeuvres @ 5:00. Change and head out to eat some place later. But-you would have to decide if that was worth it.

Its really about convenience and I can't judge that because we have not gone yet without. Hubby says it's a no brainer-it's definitly worth it. I would say if you are on the fence, having a lagoon view is definitly more important, rewarding and relaxing.

After that, if you want to treat yourself go for it.

One trip we were bumped up to concierge level at the YC and we never went back to regular rooms after that. Our kids are now 4 & 8 and we really enjoy the convenience of the lounge. It's so great to stop there in the morning for breakfast instead of running out some place. The drinks and snacks throughout the day are also good. It's also convenient to have them make ps's.

We have not stayed concierge level at the Contemporary yet (will next April!) but we have been to the Polynesian and will be back soon. The lounge there is GREAT for families. Very relaxed and spread out. I have no problems with my kids there - with other lounges I just want them in and out since space is limited.

Another thing concierge is good for and I hope you don't need to use it - during our trip last november our then 3yo DD got sick. DH & I split staying with her or going out with her brother for two days. Having the lounge nearby allowed the one staying in the rrom to have food and drinks without going out. Very convenient.

Have a great time!

We stayed at WL concierge when DS was 3.5 years old. We upgraded for $30 a night at check in. It was very convenient to have the snacks and drinks there. The evening food offering was enough for us to make a dinner out of it (an entree and soup from Artist Point), but we're kind of light eaters. I don't think it's worth the rack rate charge for the service- unless you're going to have the staff making lots of PS's for you, and doing other things for you while you're there.

I haven't even gone on my trip yet, but our concierge at the WL has bent over backwards helping us with PS's and giving advice. I'd say thus far it's totally worth it!

We found the cost of concierge to be worth it when we (me, DW, DS4, DS6) stayed at the Poly last year. We ate all of our breakfasts there and most of our dinners. Granted the dinners were light so we ate heavier lunches at the parks, but there was nothing better than coming back to the Poly after a long day at the parks, changing into our suits, grabbing some food at the Concierge and eating down by the pool. Our kids loved it and we did too. Plus by eating lighter (and it was only a little bit lighter) at dinner, we could gorge ourselves on the wonderful desserts. We are planning to go back next year and will defintely do the concierge. The kids loved the snacks too. I figured that cost-wise we broke even by doing concierge, but the extra services made it more than worth the added costs. I highly recommend it.

In my opinion concierge is very much worth the extra money. We loved our stay at YC concierge. The lounge was so convenient, especially with young children. We will now probably only stay concierge. ::yes::

We have always wanted to try the YC Concierge Floor, but we have gone on the Grand (now Platinum) Plan the last two trips, so we had concierge floor access anyway. Looking at the floor plans for the fifth floor at YC, there are a very limited number of Water View Rooms, so again next year we're going 3rd Floor Water View on the Platinum Plan.
Personally, I think the Grand Plan was worth every dollar. I hope the Platinum Plan is the same.
