Is Cinderellas Royal Table worth the hefty price?

I don't have the DDE card, but we're eating at the castle for dinner the night before my birthday in May, and the bill showed up on our credit card statement last month. Just as the CM on the phone said, it included an 18% tip. He had told us when we booked it that that's the policy, that tips are automatically charged to you. Again, no idea about how it's done with the DDE, but those of us not on the plan and/or without a DDE card do have to pre-pay the tip.

My DBF surprised me with dinner at CRT on our second night at WDW and it was wonderful and magical!!! I got a wand and he got a sword so it make it special. When we were seated, we had the center table by the window - the best table in house, IMO. The food was wonderful and the portions were big. We were even able to watch Wishes from our window seat.

I will do this dinner again...it was wonderful, magical and very romantic!

:)

Thanks so much for the opinions. I went for the first time over the summer so I'm still not up to date w/ everything there. We had no idea though that there was another place to see Cinderella. We were under the impression it was the castle or nothing. Now we're gonna have to look over the Cinderella Castle or 1900 Park Faire :goodvibes

We haven't eaten at CRT since DS and DD were small and when I made the ressie today for a June lunch, I was a bit taken back by the price. Can you tell me for lunch, do you see characters and have the picture? Most of the previous posters talk about breakfast and dinner. Thanks Much.

I would like to know which characters are there for lunch as well. Thank you!

:confused3

I am in the middle of trying to figure this out...I was told that tip was included in the price....I called this morning and they took off my 20% DDE discount then added in a tip... When I called back they told me that people NOT on DDP were charged the tip at time of booking and poeple on the plan had to leave the tip ...VERY comfused.... I need to call again and speak to a surpervisor??:confused3

Have you found out any more about using DDE for CRT? I have already made reservations and paid for CRT. Now we have purchased Annual passes and are planning to do the DDE. Can I use the discount for CRT? With 4 of us that comes close to paying for the DDE. Anybody gotten $$ back from a CRT using DDE after it was already paid?

for those of you who have gotten to visit Cinderella multiple times in a trip (CRT, Toontown, 1900 Park Fare, etc)...did your younger children ever notice that Cinderella may "look different" each time? The princess part of WDW is my DD4's favorite part, and I just don't know if she's old enough to realize that they are different CMs "playing the part" of Cinderella. This obviously goes for any princess...but I figured this was just a good a place to post this question as any.

Thanks.

:rotfl: this post made me laugh at a memory. we were dining at akershus last sept, and ariel was there in her ballgown talking to my 3 yr old dd. ariel was bidding her goodbye and said, "make sure you come visit me in the grotto!" and my dd looked at her - with total girl attitude -like she was nuts and said, "don't you remember? we met yesterday at your "gwotto" and you told me you like my ariel sunglasses!"

totally different ariel, but dd, i suppose, thought there IS ONLY ONE!

Just one word: YES!!

Just a quick question. Is it really as hard as all the guidebooks say to get a reservation for CRT? they make it out to be almost impossible. Also, we are staying in the park for 5 days begi9nning Thanksgiving day. Will I be better off trying to take advantage of the 180 +10 to book at the end of our stay? Thanks for helping a newbie:)

Well, my inlaws booked a surprise trip for us during free dining on the spur of the moment last year. It must have been late may or early june when they told us, and probably end of june by the time I figured out that you are actually supposed to make reservations:idea: I had made my wish list before calling, and was lucky enough to get 8pm at cinderella's royal table for our trip at the end of august. Actually the CM I got was amazing, and I got something off of all my lists. We would never have been able to pay out of pocket for it, as the CM informed me the cost for our party would be more than $250, but with the free dining, we were blessed to be able to do it, and it was AMAZING...DD was on :cloud9: and the boys were pretty impressed too, actually we all were, it is a great memory.

It's not AS BAD as it once was. I called around noon time on what was 180+2 and had my pick of times for lunch. (I didn't ask about other meals.) It will fill up though and it may be busier because of Thanksgiving week, so going toward the end of your stay may give you more flexibility.

Nope. Unless you have a child who desperately wants to go or it has been a lifelong dream of yours, it's totally not worth the price.

We used to go back when it was just a regular TS restaurant and it was one of our favorite lunch spots. Sadly we stopped going once it got changed over. It's egregiously overpriced, the menu is very limited, and I don't appreciate being strong-armed into the whole picture and show hullabaloo.

It's too bad--we really used to like it.

DEFINITELY NOT!! We did dinner and there was hardly any character interaction. The CM discouraged my older sister and I from taking the picture w/Cindy downstairs unless we had our little brother and little cousins in it with us. Then our server was HORRIBLE. First my meal was forgotten, when it was finally brought out it was STEAK! (I am a vegetarian!) When I politely told him that I ordered the pasta, he said "No, I remember you ordered that" and I said "I would never order this because I am a vegetarian" and he still tried to tell me I didn't order it!!!! Then he finally brought out MY meal even though my family was already finished. It was cold. My dad was FURIOUS. He was so upset with how rude the server was and how he handled everything. My dad finally talked to the manager who took my meal off of the bill. I know I can't judge CRT based on that one experience, but it will always remind me of a bad time so I will never go back.

We experienced this exact situation. When we went for our reservation, we told them we were DDE and they gave us a gift card with the difference on it. With 2 adults and one child, we got about $15 back. Definitely worth it to buy the DDE. We saved money just on this trip, and we have 2 more trips planned.
