Okay, I know it's a stupid question, but I'm trying to make sure that chapstick and the stick-type sunscreen would not be considered a gel. Anyone know for sure?

It's a wax... i think lol

But you can bring it thru airport securtiy in your little bag. Or do what I did and forget it was in your pocket as you walk through... :rolleyes1

I just sent my daughter to her grandmother's house so trooped through airline security a couple of times in the last few weeks. when I travel I am very good about what can go and can't go. When I am dashing to drop a kid off and then head to work, not so good. I went through security with no less than 3 tubes of chapstick, 2 little tubes of hand lotion, and 2 sample tubes of toothpaste, plus a Tide bleach pen in my purse. No one ever said a thing.

Just as a time saver, I'd put lip balm in your quart sized baggie, regardless of whether it's a gel or a stick. When I flew home from Boston this past Spring, I packed all of my liquids in my checked bag and stuck my lip balm in my coat pocket. The TSA officials must have seen it on the scanner, because the next thing I know, the guy is searching through all of my coat pockets to find it and show it to his supervisor. It was a North Face parka, so there were a lot of pockets to check. The lip balm passed with no problem, but it would have saved time to stick it in a baggie.

Best yet, just put it in your checked luggage, assuming you have checked luggage.
