Is Castaway Ray's not great in the afternoon?

Our 1st Dis cruise is coming up in October, I have Castaway Ray's booked for the afternoon. I have read to snorkel early in the day due to visibility becoming poor when more and more peaople are in the water. Does this effect the snorkeling at Castaway Ray's, too? Is 2:15 too late to enjoy this excursion? We have a great aquarium in Denver where we get to feed the stingrays whenever we want, so it would really be about snorkeling with rays on this one. (We will get out in the morning and snorkel on the family beach as well)

It's not so much the snorkeling at Castaway Ray's. It's feeding the stingrays, which happens in really shallow water on the beach. Good all day long.

For the snorkeling, if you want to swim with the rays, it's so shallow...visibility will be fine. It certainly was on the afternoon trip we did.

Also, I'm not sure I agree that the snorkeling, especially in the deeper stuff where the fish/structures are, is worse later in the day. In fact, when I've done it in the afternoon I've found the visibility to be great and it's less crowded because lots of people hop right in first thing in the morning.

We did it at 2pm last Jan. Feeding them was fun. I don't think the snorkeling area that the stingrays are in is good at any time of day, just because there's really nothing great to see in that area.

Agreed. You just kinda cruise over top of the stingrays. There are some reef fish/snappers hanging out by the nets that close off the area, but really it's mostly sand. Snorkeling quality just isn't really a concern there! Not much to see, shallow.
