Is Carribean Beach worth the additional cost over POP?

We will be going for 10 days in December. I have stayed at POP on our other two visits but thought it might be nice to have the waterslides and nicer pools for the kids. Is it really worth it to pay the extra money just for the better pools? Any other advantages over POP? Thanks for your help!

We've never stayed at POP, but we loved CBR :goodvibes. For us, it would definitely be worth the extra cost to have a bigger room, double vanity, a curtain to separate the sleeping area from the bathroom/vanity area, and a pool with a slide ;).

We prefer POP over CBR because of the bus transportation. At POP you are on the bus and on your way to the park. AT CBR depending on where you are staying you stop, then stop again, then stop again, many times, then finally get on your way. I am too impatient to deal with it!

Pop also has privacy curtains in the rooms. At CBR you can sit in a shaded uncrowded bus stop knowing that you'll probably get a seat on the bus. At Pop you stand in the sun. The rooms at CBR are 340 square feet, at Pop they're 260 square feet. Unfortunately CBR still has double beds just like Pop.

If you've never stayed at a Moderate and you can afford it you should do it.

To us, no. We have stayed at both and just didn't like CBR at all. We would stay at Pop again in a heartbeat. CBR just didn't add that much more for the price difference. To us, the room size difference was barely noticeable. They both have double beds. CBR is huge, and the worst thing was having to get back to the resort after being at the park all day with little ones and know that if we wanted a snack or drink, we'd have a 10 minute walk to the OPR and back in order to get it. But, of a pool slide is that important...it's what's important to you! Good luck!

I chose CBR over Pop this year for two reasons: First, to get a more comfortable bed. As I've written in other posts, the mattresses at Pop (to me) are barely a step up from sleeping on concrete. The other reason is for the really cool pirate themed pool. We usually take afternoon resort breaks and my young boys will love it. Oh, and as for distance, I booked a preferred room.

I'm not a CBR fan..if I'm paying more for a mod I want a bigger bed. I like POR and CSR for Mods. That said I'd probably stay CBR over POP if given a choice. Your girls are little and the pool at CBR is fab for young ones

For a 10 day trip I definitely think its worth it to have the extra space and amenities of a moderate. We really enjoyed CBR. CBR is the only moderate that has a zero entry pool. It has two water slides at the main pool and this great water play area for kids under 48." Definitely a plus if you have little kids. We never had a problem with the busses and only had to stand on the way back from the parks at the end of the night. I didn't think making the extra stops was a big deal. Much better than the bus service we had at BWI.

For us, it would depend on the cost including any specials. If you want to swim, the pool at CBR is MUCH nicer than Pop.... 2 slides, wonderful theme, and it looks really neat all lit up at night. The Pirate water play are for young kids are great. But if you do not plan on swimming much, I guess that doesn't matter. IF you go with CBR, I highly recommend booking a preferred room... you don't want an extremely long walk in the cool air after swimming. CBR is a big resort.

As mentioned, both CBR and Pop have double beds. It is a bigger room at CBR but didn't make any difference for us just being 2 adults and 1 child. Now, you might consider Port Orleans Riverside.... a moderate that was just refurbished and most rooms have queen beds. We didn't eat much quick service at CBR but I sure liked the Shrimp Lo Mein and other food at Pop.

I like Pop and the Value resorts for all the giant icons and theming. The buses were a little annoying with all the stops at CBR but wasn't that big of a deal.

My last trip to disney ( and i've been a few times) we arrived at CBR and had one of the most poor experiences ever. On top of it, the resort is HUGE and you can't walk anywhere unless you want to walk for miles. The Internal bus system stops running at midnight, so if you stay out late at the parks, you have to walk to your building ( which can be a LONG walk). We had a Pirate room, and though it was decorated in a cool way, the mattresses were literally 3 inches thick. The staff wasn't helpful and actually caught them in a flat out lie. I'm sure many people have had different experiences that were more positive than ours at CBR, but for us...it just wasn't so. I have stayed at POP and would MUCH rather stay there than CBR...in a HEARTBEAT!

I've stayed at both resorts and we loved CBR! Pop was okay just very noisy and the rooms are tiny. I wasn't able to sleep because of slamming doors, thin walls and turbo toilets. I love the theme of CBR, the larger rooms, double sinks, and my kids love the pirate themed pool. CBR is a very relaxing resort with beaches and hammocks. Also it is quieter than pop. The bus stops are covered instead of baking in the sun at pop. I would suggest requesting Jamaica, Aruba, North Trinidad, or martinque section if you stay there. It's closer to the pool and food court. CBR wasn't available for our dates/discount so we weren't able to book there.

It is worth it to us. And CBR is our favorite moderate. The grounds are beautiful, the atmosphere is more relaxed which is such a nice change from the craziness of the parks. For us it's like having 2 vacations in one. When going for 10 days we usually have 2 resort days where we just enjoy hanging out.

Even when CBR is at full capacity it doesn't feel like it. Sitting in the hot tub after a day of park touring is very nice. And walking the beaches bare foot is like having a foot massage.

Some people feel it's a negative, but we like that there is a bus stop for every village. You are never far from one. It's under 10 minutes to make the loop around the resort if you're the first pickup. Depending where your room is, it can easily take the same amount of time to walk to the one and only bus stop.

You can see Illuminations from the bridge to OPR or from the beach of Trinidad North or Martinique.

The main pool and the splash area are great!

I agree with this. We love pop because of the cost factor. But are finding we could use a bit more space. I think that if money isn't a factor switch. We have stayed at pop for the last 3 yeas with no problems. But I'm happy to return to a moderate this year.
