Is Cannabis use allowed by hospital employees in California?

You might want to try a full spectrum CBD. I have found that it has helped a great deal with my anxiety.

I use a brand called Plus.

I have that one and another version called Uplift Sour Watermelon, which is Sativa and 100mg THC with only trace amounts of CBD. The Sativa is for daytime use, the Hybrid is for night time use.

Fun fact, I used to work at a Plus warehouse in Adelanto. These tins are $20 each, so every time someone dropped a gummi while we were breaking them up and packing tins, we'd point and say "Look, there's a dollar on the floor."

I've recently been looking into CBD products. Most makers give very clear warnings that "full spectrum" CBD contains enough THC to show up on drug tests. The ones called "isolates" are CBD only and certified to be free of THC. If that sort of thing matters to the user. :confused3

I work at a hospital in Pennsylvania and even if I had a medical excuse from my doctor to use CBD products, I wouldn't be allowed to use any of these products. When we were hired, we had to take a drug test and we have random drug tests so you never know when you might get pulled for one. If you test positive (and I think that it stays in your system for several weeks), it is immediate firing...no exceptions. So even though it might be allowed in your state, doesn't mean that your employer (in this case the hospital) will give you a free pass.

Lots of places do fingerprinting for background checks. My teen just had to do this and a drug screen to work at the YMCA summer camp.

You’re absolutely correct that every workplace will have different requirements so it’s best not to assume.

Not if she hasn’t been prescribed it by her doctor. And even then they may not care if the hospital has a zero tolerance policy. We had a contractor getting credentialed at a hospital last summer. His doctor had recommended that he use CBD for his anxiety while he was out of work due to Covid. He wound up testing positive for trace amounts of marijuana and was not able to work at this particular hospital.

Then he was using something like Delta-8 and not straight up CBD. CBD will not trigger any kind of a THC test unless it has THC in it. Delta-8 etc can be confusing for many because you can buy it anywhere from any smoke shop without any medical card and it is mostly CBD so people think they are good but it does have THC in it.

CBD alone will not trigger a THC test, you have to be using CBD with THC in it. There's CBD that does not have THC in it. People usually reject it though because CBD on it's own is not going to give you any "instant" feeling of any sort. I tend to think of CBD acts like advil and THC works more instant like a narcotic would but it's sooo not a narcotic.

I should 100% be addicted to pain pills by now...... I am very passionate about CBD and THC etc. I medicate with various versions of cannabis for myself and I use CBD in the Delta-8 form for my son's anxiety and depression. We both also take CBD every day.

Alright, spoke to my sponsor, they said this hospital has a strict no-drug policy and can test you at random, so she advised me to simply stop consuming the stuff until the externship has passed, so I'm shelfing it for the time being.

In all honesty, I don't care much for the "buzzy" feeling it gives me, if that makes any sense. I think, once I've run through my little supply by the end of the year, I'll probably look into pure CBD products with no THC, because the CBD hybrid I have does indeed help with my anxiety. I figure maybe I'll switch to pure CBD after I've run through what I have and stay away from the THC, then I don't get the "head high" feeling and I won't fail a drug test.

But that's a ways off. I've got my externship to focus on so I'll be putting the stuff away until August.

I'm in NJ and several hospitals in the area have already done away with testing for marijuana for new employees. They've never done random tests either.

It really just depends on that particular hospital system.

A lot of hospitals do not allow it. Just an fyi THC can last in the body a long time, sometimes weeks since the last dose.

I've read 3-5 days for light users, 7-10 for heavier users.

This assumes urine, blood or saliva tests though. Hair tests can pinpoint long-term use.

Yes, there are many CBD products that have varying small amounts of THC in them. Marijuana is not legal in our state so he assumed that the products he was purchasing were CBD only, but apparently there must be a small percentage that is allowed to be sold.

Must be below 0.3% THC (In PA).

The Delta-8 stuff is THC (someone mentioned it being CDC). The Federally banned substance is specifically Delta-9 THC. They figured out how to extract out Delta-9 and leave Delta-8 which is not the banned substance so it's popping up everywhere now.

So I live in PA and medical marijuana is legal here. I believe here, if your company drug tests you, you can show your card/prescription at the testing site and they will not test you for marijuana, the same as you would do if you were prescribed and taking an opioid medication or other controlled substance at the time of your random drug testing. However, I believe our biggest hospital system on my side of the state (UPMC) has a policy that medical marijuana use isn't acceptable in roles that treat patients with direct patient care, because a worker under the influence of MMJ could put patients at risk, not sure exactly what positions those would be though. There are also rules about how much MMJ certain workers can have in their system while on the job. I think you will need to look up the policy for your hospital system.

At the hospital that I work at, marijuana is not acceptable under any circumstances...whether you have a medical need or not. We have to follow the hospital policy above all others. Doesn't matter if it is legal in Pennsylvania or not....we cannot use it period or we will face immediate termination when and if we get pulled for a drug test (and it is random so you never know when this might be). This applies to all employees not just those dealing with patients.

This just makes me sad. What are people that work in a hospital supposed to do if they rely on cannabis like I do? Prescription meds can be absolutely crazy. I fought hard to get off of all the crazy meds I was put on during my cancer treatment. It took over a year and cannabis.

I am self employed so I can do what I want but I just went on a fantastic vacation and had to try and endure it as much as possible without my medication because the stigma and lies about cannabis still persist and it was pretty much considered a huge no no wherever we went.

I did what I had to do but I was horribly under medicated the entire trip because I could not "indulge" when I NEEDED to. My only other option would have been to leave my medication at home and get scripts to make up for it but it took me too long to get off of that crap. I do have some prescription meds but I am balanced REALLY well with them but I also have ZERO prescription pain meds. None. I live with Chronic pain including chronic sciatica from lumbar issues as well as CIPN in my hands and feet. 10

Someday we will get there.

OK rant/pity party over :rotfl2: I am just THRIVING finally and it makes me so sad that it is still the way it is and there are people like me out there not getting the help they need because they just cannot :(

That question should have included alcohol as well. One is no worse then the other yet I have never seen the question. Is booze allowed by hospital employees.
