If kids can't behave, then they shouldn't be there. Period. While CG isn't a subdued atmosphere like you'd find at Citrico, it is an upscale restaurant, and people dine there expecting an upscale atmosphere, not Mc Donald's playland. It is unreasonable for parents to think that it's acceptable for their children to not be on their best behavior and be disruptive to other patrons. If a parent knows that their children might have issues sitting still and using "inside voices" in a restaurant, it is incredibly selfish of them to dine there anyway, unless they are willing to be prepared to have the food wrapped and leave, immediately, if the children start acting up.

Selfish? Wow, that post really shocks me!

I don't think it's selfish for people to want to have a nice dinner and take their children, this is Walt Disney World!
We have one very well behaved little 'lady' in our party. She was six the first time we ate at CG, seven the next. She'll be almost nine when we go back. Never thought twice about taking her there, or anywhere else because she knows how to behave in public.
It sounds to me as if you'd rather that CG was a no-children restaurant!
When we ate there last year, there were more babies in that restaurant than I have ever seen at any sit-down restaurant at WDW, including character meals! There was at least one baby at every single table in our half of the restaurant (except our table). So, there was some happy-baby screetching, a lot of laughter, a definite child presence to be felt there. But I don't recall any of the children being badly behaved. They were just being children. Now I realize that is offensive to some people, but anywhere you go in WDW you have to accept that kids are likely going to be there!
I don't know when some folks in this thread have eaten there, maybe later at night. But it really sounds like we're talking about two different restaurants! Each time we've been there, there were lots and lots of children. Once it was just before
MNSSHP and there were even kids in costume.
To the OP, please don't let people's posts here put you off at all. Take your kids, (do watch over them, but take them,) and have a wonderful time.
They wouldn't stock the goldfish and crayons to draw with if they didn't plan on having lots of kids here. CG is not Victoria and Alberts, and it's not like it was when it was a nightclub at the "Top of the World." It's not as noisy as Ohana, but it is definitely, at least at the earlier seatings, a family restaurant.
Wow. You never know what you're going to read on these boards.
