Is Bubba Gump that bad ?

Bubba Gump was great, My son and i had lunch there in aug and it was lovely.
the foods was good, service great( waiter was brillant with my son) and we enjoy the whole experience. even bought a key ring!

I'm willing to give it a try. The guy seemed to like coconut shrimp which is what I'd probably order anyway. I'm not so sure about servers shouting questions at me though.

DH ordered the coconut shrimp combo with a ton of other shrimp, and it was delicious.

I had the shrimp stuffed with crab and melted cheese with a butter sauce, as well as jasmine rice, and it was heavenly.

My mother had a special which had mahi and shrimp, rice and some other things, and we all thought it was wonderful.

However, I do like spicy things, and they had a spicy shrimp appetizer with bread for dipping, and it was incredible. They do offer this as main course on the menu, and I would definitely get this one on a future trip (with plenty of Mylanta back at the room!).

The best part was massive Yeunglings (sp?) -- good, strong, amber beers -- in glasses you could take home for $10.45 with tax. We didn't find out how much the refills were, since we headed over to O'Brien's for hurricanes, but this was a pretty good deal compared to the other City places. Our server did say that refills were substantially lower.

Our waitress was new, very sweet, didn't quiz us on trivia or shout at us. It was nice watching the Gump movie all the time. And we all thought turning the license plates when you need service is brilliant. No one bothers you when you don't need anything, and someone is right there when your fork left with your appetizer plate.

Rcraw, anytime! I see you're in GA ... we're in Jax, FL, a stone's throw from the border :) We're already missing the O-Hole, and we only returned yesterday. Love to see some fellow DISer's there for our spring trip!

I've eaten at the Universal location twice.

I think that the prices are high for what you get, but I'm guessing that most people eating there will be vacationing and not be TOO bothered by it since theme park food overall is overpriced.

I also think that the theming is a little too forced, like they tried too hard. The "Stop Forest Stop" thing made me roll my eyes at first, but it came handy once and someone stopped at our table within 5 seconds of showing the sign.

The service both times was excellent and so was the taste of the food. I'll probably return again.

Hey Plutolvr, I think I have a recipe for that spicy shrimp that you had. Did it have tons of red pepper type color, in a buttery sauce? If so, I think it's the same recipe that I got from Southern Living. Email or PM me if you're interested. This recipe's great!

I had the Lt. Dan's drunken shrimp yesterday. shrimp in a creole sauce with grilled andouille and mashed potatoes...excellent.
