So I just got off the phone with my mom she said it is not I am not sure the conversation happened because I am starting to feel well enough to go back to the gym and workout but I don’t want to share my germs either

If it was cause by bacteria and you got on antibiotics then you're not contagious after 24 hours of starting them.
If you're not taking antibiotics or it was due to a virus then you could be contagious for about a week after first symptoms.
If you're feeling better and its been at least a week then go about your life.
If you want to be safe then contact your doctor for their opinion as I'm not a doctor lol.

Thank you it was caused by a virus so I will stay out of the gym till Monday but no reason why I can’t record videos in my living room till then thank you for the info

Bronchitis is a viral respiratory illness. It is contagious. Wear a mask. And get a Covid test.

Bronchitis itself is probably not contagious, but the virus that caused it is. Kinda like how croup in kids isn’t technically contagious, but the virus that caused it is. Certain viruses are more likely to cause bronchitis or croup.

I don’t think people would appreciate someone with bronchitis out and about right now lol. I’d stay home and recover a bit more.

what is weird is I was not sick with a cold or anything before getting it

It's def. contagious. When I first started at the insurance company bronchitis took out a good portion of us workers. I hadn't had it before although I had other respiratory illnesses in the past. I was out for a while and had a cough for about a month and a half. By the time I went to the doctor I was mostly over the worst of the worst symptoms. I actually didn't know what I was sick with at first because I was taking Mucinex and ended up throwing up multiple times. That's when I found out Mucinex and I are not a good mix. After discontinuing it I was back to just feeling crummy and it turned out to be bronchitis.

Good idea to at least try and stay away from people for a bit and def. wear a mask while you're out for a while longer. If you have a lingering cough like I did keep wearing your mask too even if you may not be contagious at that point.

The only symptom left is swollen glands very little coughing the symptom that brought me to the doctor was the feeling of a heavy weight on my chest

i had a test on hand when I noticed I was sick Christmas morning and at my doctors office Monday negative both times
The tests may not be totally accurate. We just had a family member who is a Nurse Practitioner take a test every day (including two PCR’s) the week up to Christmas because there is a new baby in the family. They got together Christmas and two days later was positive and is now sick. May want to retest or just assume you may be contagious. Hope you are feeling much better soon!

if it was not turning the corner not well enough to workout but I can breathe I could not on Monday it felt like bricks on my chest

That's how the tests work it doesn't mean they aren't accurate just because negative came up then later on a positive. Timing has a lot to do with it too.

I know with rapid tests they've advised if you're getting together to take it as close as possible to the event you would attend, one even suggested in the car before you go in. Then retest after that. And isolating yourself between these tests is incredibly important. It won't matter if you took a test every day if you didn't isolate at home because you could have picked it up after the test but didn't have enough time between the next test for it to be able to be picked up in high enough levels. This is why PCR and the Delta and past variants advised waiting 5-7 days before testing. With Omicron the hypothesis is that may be too long and more like a test on day 2,3, or 4.

For rapid tests serial tests differ from ones that aren't. BinaxNow is a serial one designed to be taken by the same person twice with at least 24 hours in between (paperwork mentions 36 hours as well but minimum 24). FlowFlex is not a serial test and is considered 1 test and you're done. Both however you could repeat again over the course of time.

It's completely possible she didn't have covid before Christmas or she got it between the last time she tested and the time she tested and it came back positive.

I do agree about retesting for the OP and the contagious part at least for a while but there are other stuff going around too.

I was told Bronchitis is what is going around were I live

Bronchitis does not "go around." Its a secondary infection from another virus. Bronchitis is not connected to Covid, and if you were diagnosed with bronchitis it's because your chest sounds indicated bronchial irritation, not lung involvement.

If you feel better, it's safe to go about your life, although the cough from bronchitis can last several weeks. If the place you are going prefers people to not come in with symptoms like coughing, stay away for now out of common courtesy.

That's actually incorrect.

Bronchitis isn't an infection at all. It's simply an inflammation of the bronchial lining. It is USUALLY caused by a viral infection, but it can also be a bacterial infection, or even be caused by inhaling an irritant such as smoke or even pollen. The word bronchitis literally breaks down to bronchial (bronch) itits (inflammation).

FUN FACT: it's a common misconception the suffix "itis" means infection. It actually means inflammation. Anytime you see a medical term with the suffix "itis", something is inflamed.

Thanks for the mansplaining.

You are actually wrong, though. In medical terms, acute bronchitis IS considered a secondary infection. Chronic bronchitis is what you are referring to.

All I know is I (usually) can not get a cold without it turning into bronchitis, that can last up to 6 months. Thankfully when I had my minor cold this past fall, it didn't. I am convinced it is because of the humidifier I ran it from the second that I had symptoms and will continue to run it all winter. One in the living room and one in the bedroom.
