Bronchitis is a viral respiratory illness. It is contagious. Wear a mask. And get a Covid test.
Bronchitis itself is probably not contagious, but the virus that caused it is. Kinda like how croup in kids isn’t technically contagious, but the virus that caused it is. Certain viruses are more likely to cause bronchitis or croup.
I don’t think people would appreciate someone with bronchitis out and about right now lol. I’d stay home and recover a bit more.
The tests may not be totally accurate. We just had a family member who is a Nurse Practitioner take a test every day (including two PCR’s) the week up to Christmas because there is a new baby in the family. They got together Christmas and two days later was positive and is now sick. May want to retest or just assume you may be contagious. Hope you are feeling much better soon!i had a test on hand when I noticed I was sick Christmas morning and at my doctors office Monday negative both times

That's how the tests work it doesn't mean they aren't accurate just because negative came up then later on a positive. Timing has a lot to do with it too.The tests may not be totally accurate. I was told Bronchitis is what is going around were I live
Its a secondary infection from another virus.
Bronchitis does not "go around." Its a secondary infection from another virus. Bronchitis is not connected to Covid, and if you were diagnosed with bronchitis it's because your chest sounds indicated bronchial irritation, not lung involvement.
If you feel better, it's safe to go about your life, although the cough from bronchitis can last several weeks. If the place you are going prefers people to not come in with symptoms like coughing, stay away for now out of common courtesy.
That's actually incorrect.
Bronchitis isn't an infection at all. It's simply an inflammation of the bronchial lining. It is USUALLY caused by a viral infection, but it can also be a bacterial infection, or even be caused by inhaling an irritant such as smoke or even pollen. The word bronchitis literally breaks down to bronchial (bronch) itits (inflammation).
FUN FACT: it's a common misconception the suffix "itis" means infection. It actually means inflammation. Anytime you see a medical term with the suffix "itis", something is inflamed.
