You all sound like a bunch of typical whining American xenophobes. You think groups of American kids at theme parks act any differently ? Time to get off your collective high horses and deal with it. Is it any wonder people in the rest of the world hate Americans with a passion ?

Um, yes, I do. I've run into both. And sad to say, but there's no comparison. I have not run into any groups of American kids or any groups of American tourists together this large. And I will be clear here, the BTG are not just kids - they are children and adults, and they all behave the same.

Oh, and I've lived overseas as a child and as an adult, and have traveled to over 25 countries both on business and for pleasure - and these groups are without parallel. I also wrote my masters thesis on cultural differences, so I'm a little bit familiar with the concepts here, but rude is rude when it comes to this, and it transends the bounds of "cultural differences". I cannot conjure up one place in all of the world where I have experienced a similar phenomenon. I don't know how to explain it, but it is the epitome of mob mentality.

I can't believe that people have let a group of 50-100 people cut in front of them while standing in line. I personally am not moving and it's gonna take a lot for someone to get me to move. I'm not gonna come to blows or anything but you don't have to speak the same language to know when someone is p$%sed off and not going to let you by. As for the "whining American xenophobes" line. If the rest of the world hates Americans than don't bother coming to our theme parks.

Interesting..I dont see US groups not waiting in line..hogging up streets, chanting etc...

Oh, yes...Americans are such rotten folks. We are the cause of most of the pain and suffering in the world. Selfish, too. Never reach out to help those outside the U.S. who are in need. (Ever look at the statistics about who the most generous country in the world is?)

I can't imagine why anyone would want to step on our filthy, selfish, high-horsed soil just to have a vacation.

Actually...the first time we thought about making the trip to WDW was when my DD had the opportunity to travel with her cheer team. I read the threads going around at the time about Pop Warner and most of it was extremely hostile and downright mean. I decided not to let her go on the trip because I became concerned about the mobs of unruly, unsupervised teenagers that roamed the parks. I fully trusted her coaches and chaperones, but from what I read on the DIS the parks were full of girls cheering loudly at inappropriate times and boys rudely cutting in lines and foul language.

I totally understand the frustration that these tour groups must present to the other guests, and I for one will certainly never plan a visit in July. But I also don't feel that it's a cultural issue or race issue, I think it comes down to poorly supervised groups of teenagers.

Talks begin over Disney park in Latin America
Brasilia (EFE) – Brazilian officials are talking with the Walt Disney Co. about a deal that would bring the entertainment company’s first theme park in Latin America to Brasilia,

the press reported Thursday.
The Federal District’s government has put a proposal on the table for Disney executives, who “have responded positively” in early discussions, the Jornal de Brasilia newspaper said.
The capital’s government has offered Disney a 30-year lease on 175 hectares (432 acres) in Burle Marx Park for the attraction.
Although the park is a nature preserve, the decree under which it was created set aside the land in question for an amusement park that could become the Disney attraction.
Disney Parks and Resorts operates or licenses 10 theme parks on three continents, with an 11th park now under construction in Hong Kong, along with 35 resort hotels, two luxury cruise ships and a wide variety of other entertainment offerings, according to the company’s Web site
The first amusement park Disneyland opened in 1955 in Anaheim,California.

Any Disney executives out there:

BUILD IT!!!!!

BUILD IT!!!!!

Oh, please, oh please build it! That would be awesome! :yay:

The difference is that the SCHOOL yanked the kids ... the motel didn't kick them out. Also, the school isn't making money on the field trip and can yank kids if necessary. You can bet that the motel manager was happy b/c he had the money for the rooms in advance and didn't have the problems. Plus, it was one group of kids. Not 10 to 15 groups of 100 plus people that the BTG's have. And there is no way on earth that the BTG's are going to send their entire group home. Not going to happen!!!! It's not like they can get on a bus and turn around to head home! The motel's not going to get their name smeared across the news b/c they didn't kick the group out. If WDW kicked out the BTG's, that's going to make the news and it'll be huge. The BTG's will cry discrimination and it'll be a bigger mess than Disney wants to deal with.

Disney's not about to kick out a BTG b/c they bring loads of cash into the park. Disney's going to make them as happy as possible b/c they want the return $$ for years to come. Would they pull their park pass? Maybe -- but that only leads to the kid(s) wreaking havoc on the resort or DTD. Do others have to suffer in the long run for the BTG's? Probably. And, as usual, our complaints aren't going to matter when far more money is invested in WDW by these BTG's compared to the average family. Also, the BTG's help out the "down time" at WDW when they come in the winter.

I know that the moderates were loaded w/BTG's. If the BTG's didn't come, there's no way Disney would fill those moderate resorts and would lose out on a lot of revenue. They TOTALLY rely on BTG's.

As another poster said, if July is the only time you can go, you're gonna go and have to put up w/the BTG's. Disney doesn't care ... just as long as they're getting the money!!!!

Needless to say, BTG's = $$$ for Disney. Bottom line is how much money Disney can bring in.

Partly right.

The school made them go home.

The hotel kicked them out. The manager informed the school that they are being evicted.

PS to add we stayed at a motel outside disney land. A high school group took over the hotel we stayed at. They were to stay there for 5 nights.

The place went up for grabs. I went to the manager to complain the next morning and got the name of the school and location. I asked him to make a phone call to that school now and I will pay for it. We talked to the principal.

That day the buses pulled out fully loaded. The manager said they where headed back home, the trip got called off by the school. The five night stay turned into one. He didn't even charge me for the call.

Now I'm calm

The difference is that the SCHOOL yanked the kids ... the motel didn't kick them out.

Sorry for the error .... but I didn't see anything in your post where the manager kicked the kids out. Your post just mentioned that the call was made, the school called off the trip and the kids went home. Nothing about the hotel kicking the kids out.

I'm returning to this thread. I have posted previously that on my last trip in January this year, I witnessed a near riot in Epcot one night when a very large BTG of about 100+ kids suddenly ran for the exits plowing into people as they went. It was an ugly scene and together with enduring several days of hearing them chanting loudly in the parks and generally blocking walkways and such I was dismayed to read that July there was their choice month to visit. So I returned for this latest trip with trepidation.

I was at WDW from July 25 to August 5. There were definitely groups there but they were far smaller than what I witnessed in January. I never noticed more than about 15 kids together at one time. The only instance of chanting was one time in the UK section of Epcot when a group of about 12 girls starting chanting as they walked through - then abruptly stopped. It lasted only for about 10 seconds and they were silenced by "something." Supervision perhaps? I don't know but whatever it was it was welcomed.

I don't know if I missed the worst of it this time coming in at the end of the month, but on the whole the situation was improved. Now I understand the posts from people who ask "what's the big deal? they didn't bother me" because those posters must never have seen the 100+ phalanx of kids I've seen causing havoc as they surge through WDW crowds.

My family and I are arriving tomorrow to WDW and it will be intresting to see if they are still there. We have been going around this time in August for a few years and there are not usually that many of them, compared to the month of July.

Since I'm an American --- your response is actually pretty pathetic.

I've had two cast members in my family... they both tried to explain the same thing....

"These are rich kids from a Country that has no middle class. These people are taught to look down on workers. When they come to disney world they bring this sorry-poor attitude with them. No respect for the cast members at disney, or any of the other guest...that might get in their way.

So it might not be race....but it is very much cultural/economical

I sure wouldn't last as an exec at this company.

After I kicked them out.

I worked my way through this entire thread-because I liked the title. ;)

So here's my story:

First July trip 1976-we saw MANY tour groups, but we also saw CM's stepping in and enforcing the rules and stopping them from cutting in line. When chanting began in lines, it was allowed to go on until they entered the covered areas, then the CM's would go to the leader and ask that it please stop. Yes, the groups were HUGE and we did our best to avoid the areas where they were, but other than that it wasn't a huge deal.

Second July trip-1994-YIKES!!! Hundreds of kids in orange T shirts, cutting lines, pushing 5 yr old DN out of their way, chanting and singing at the top of their lungs throughout the park. This time, the CM's were either overwhelmed or had been instructed NOT to interfere. With some creative planning and a lot of extra walking, we did our best to be where the groups were not and salvaged the trip.

Haven't been back in July since....

I was there once during the cheerleader championships and I'll never do that again either.

Rude is rude, and Lord knows we've all seen our share of rude behavior no matter when we go to the parks. With large groups, rudeness is amplified. One family holding a space in line and having 4 people cut in, is annoying-98 of them is enough to make you avoid WDW at that time of year.

My other observation on this thread: it's a wonder some people get through their day! After all, they have to be constantly on guard for things to be offended about-and then they have to spend all that time patting themselves on the back about how superior they are to the rest of the ignorant masses.

Well-stated, though I would add that this applies to a lot of international guests of all ages, not just Brazilian teens. In order to afford a trip to WDW from a lesser developed country (what we called the "Third World" back in the Cold War era), you need to be from your nation's top economic strata. These are the Paris Hiltons of their home country, people who are not accustomed, say, to waiting in line at the grocery store.

The fact that these kids are also barely supervised teenagers just exacerbates the problem.
