Is borrowing a "final" transaction?

In my 4 years of DVC ownership I've never had to borrow. If I borrow and then decide not to go can those points go back to their rightful use year?

Yes -Banking and borrowing points are final transactions.

No - If you cancel, the points are put in the current use year that they were banked or borrowed INTO.

That is a tough one because I want to use June UY points for a trip in May. If I canceled I'd be in big trouble. How difficult is it to book a studio (any resort) May 11-13 last minute (let's say 3 weeks out)?

I have gone in May a few times, I didn't find it too busy in terms of availability, but I guess it depends on where you want to stay. If you have serveral choices you may be okay.

However, there have been quite a few discussions on how difficult it is getting to do short notice booking. I haven't tried it (I'm one of those who panic if I don't book 11 months in advance). Sorry, I may not be of any help in this case.

However, I will let you know that if we ever had to change our dates in such short notice and we wanted a room onsite, I believe I could always count on SSR. But that's only my opinion.

They don't go back but I believe you can trade them into II for a vacation later. I might be wrong about this, so I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong. I have heard of people having points they can't use or bank for whatever reason putting them into II for a vacation later. I don't know if there is a time frame that you can do this or not. I would like to know more myself. Can someone add more about this?

I'm also curious about depositing it into II. I was under the impression that you cannot use banked or borrowed points for II.

I'm new to all this and don't know what II is but I just borrowed points from 2009 for a November 2008 trip. We have an April use year. I was told if I had to cancel, the points I borrowed would be put into holding and I would have to use them by the end of march 2009. Also I could ony book 60 days out or less.

You are right about having to use them before the end of the use year you borrowed them into. So that would be by the end of March 2009. If you cancel before 31 days out, you can use them anytime up until March 31
2009. You don't have the 60 day rule or holding account unless you cancel within 31 days of your trip. I don't think this has changed. I am still not sure about depositing points into II. I know you can deposit points into II but I am not sure about the rules. II is Interval International. It is the trading company that DVC let us use to make trades outside our DVC locations. Hope this helps with the confusion of my post.

I just checked with Member Services and you can deposit points into II for later use. You have 2 years from the date deposited to use them. You can deposit regular points and banked points but she wasn't sure about transferred points. Just wanted to let you all know what I found out!
