Is Birmingham a Safe 1/2 Way Stop to WDW?

Thanks so much for all your recommendations!! I looked into Amerisuites and found a great rate, and being close to the Galleria Mall will be a nice place to walk off all those hours in the car!! Anything I should know about the hotel? Floors or rooms to avoid ect..
