Is beginning of May a good time?

I went last year in early May. Crowd levels were extremely manageable and the weather was great. I suppose it was a bit on the "hot" side, but nothing unbearable at all. Loved it.

We are scheduled to be there May 21-27. We will actually be leaving on the 27th and that is the beginning of Memorial Day weekend.. Hoping to miss the beginning summer season crowds...

We just returned from our first May trip and found the crowds and weather to be fantastic. Would absolutely go again at this time!

My birthday is in the beginning of May and I've always enjoyed park weather then. Nice and warm for swimming, not too much rain or humidity.

Right now is a heck of a lot better than July. Smaller crowds, less heat, longer park hours, discounts on rooms...

Yes but HOT. We did a mother's day trip last year and it was near empty on Monday and Tuesday and very moderate crowds that weekend.

Not sure why every mom doesn't want to be at Disney World??
Maybe because it's too hard to pull their kids out of school right at the busy end of the year. That's THE only thing keeping me from early May now. Did it once when they were younger and it was fabulous.

We go in May and my kids' teachers actually say it's better right at the end bc grades are usually in for the end of the year. My kids have never had to make up any work, but they are young. May be different for older kids.

Is this a good time for Disney? I have read in multiple places that Disney was very very slow today.

I checked the app and many rides were under 20 mins. I think PP was 40, but that is good for that ride! AK appeared empty, most things were 5 or 10 mins. Everest was 10. TT was only 30. I guess with spring breaks being done, but schools not being out yet it must be slow?
My favorite time has always been September but since free dining not so much. We are now returning from a week at Disney (4 - 10) and it was wonderful! Especially at night. The only really busy day was 5/5 at MK but I think it was because it rained hard the day before (which was a fantastic time to do MK-we did many attractions plus many more we hadn't expected to do but it was also EMH). During our trip I Inadvertantly scheduled 3 evening EMH days (MK, HS, and EP) and crowds were very very low. We ended up canceling all our fps for EP, we just didn't need them. Also, we didn't get inside the park until around 9:30 and only waited around 25 minutes for Joy/Sadness and 10 for Baymax. I found AK fairly crowded but it was our last day, it was hot, we were tired, but once I dropped all our plans and we just winged it, it turned out to be a great day. I think for those who are first or one timers it's important to try to see as much as you can. If you plan to go back, just hit the highlights an see what you can. Overall I found out that out of 7 days only 9 of our fast passes were useful or even necessary. Some of those would have not been necessary using the EMH as well. We had fps for FOF parade but that turned out to be our undoing because the hub is full sun and hotter than hades. After that, the girls were done for and we ended up canceling our BOG and headed back to the resort for a swim and a movie on the lawn.

Oh we aren't school aged yet, but that makes perfect sense. Especially with standardized testing these days.

We went the first week of May 2015 (2nd - 9th) and it was wonderful. AK felt crowded, but there were a lot of construction walls up. Very few rides had long waits, and we were able to get 4th, 5th, and even 6th FPs, but they really weren't even necessary. The weather was great. It was hot, but not humid, and only rained once for a very short time.

We have been 2x in early May....once in August (never again....HOT) and once in November (we are going again in November this year). May is my most fave time to go. The lines are shorter. Crowds def seemed lighter. Flower and Garden Festival. The weather is beautiful without being too hot (we only got a couple of days in 90s with low humidity) and after our long winters here in the Northeast....I'm ready for the sunshine, palm trees and a dip in the pool! I can no longer go in May due to my job but if I could.....early May would be the ONLY time I would go. I did like November too but May has it beat for me.

Last year we went May 16-22 (week before Memorial Day) and this year we went April 30-May 7. I would definitely say crowds were lower this trip and typically wait times were lower.

I am at All Star Music right now. We arrived on Sunday May 8th. This is the earliest in May we've ever stayed. Our normal stays are late May/early June and early to mid October. DH and I have both commented on the lesser crowds and lower wait times. I don't know if this is the least crowds we have ever seen but it's close. The weather has been tolerable, today has been the first really hot day.

Most of the big rides have had relatively low wait times but it seems the wait times for characters and some of the kiddie type rides are about what we are used to seeing. A couple of nights ago RnRC time was 20 minutes but TSMM was still 65. It seems there are more families with younger kids.

We've booked next May from the 17th-27th, should I think about switching to earlier in May?? I originally booked this way so that we would be there on my daughter's birthday, but it seems like maybe it is worth it to go a bit earlier even though we won't be there ON her actually bday. What are your thoughts?

After everything I have seen, I think the whole month is good, but the crowds are lowest in early May. I would expect crowds to bump up a bit at Memorial Day.

We are driving home to NC right now after 4 days. The weather was fantastic. Not a drop of rain. It was warm but not Africa hot lol. The parks seemed crowded but we didn't wait for anything...walked on just about everything we did. We found Disney wait times GROSSLY inflated. Star Tours posted a 30 min wait and was a walk on. We found this every time we rode standby.

Will add this time of year to our rotation (September being our favorite ).

I was there May 2-9, and enjoyed the weather and crowds. Thunderstorms the night of the second and nearly all day, not the night of the 4th.

I would definitely go again during that time.

We just got back from a trip (May 7 - 13) and it was spectacular. The crowds were very manageable, the weather was PERFECT...low humidity & high 80s on average. I couldn't have asked for anything better! Now I'm back in Pittsburgh and it actually snowed today...WHAT!!! :scared: May 15th and snow??? Trying to hold onto those memories of last week!! :sunny:
