Is BCV that bad?

I read a series of posts about the views at the BCV. The posters felt pretty negative about the resort, but about the views in particular. Are they really that bad?

We've stayed there about 5 times, have never had a good view and really missed our OKW porch. But we stayed there because of the pool the the proximity to EPCOT.

We had a view of the service road on our last trip, but we weren't right on the road, there was quite a bit of foliage between us and the road. It wasn't noisy and not a big deal to us. If we're in the room, we're usually sleeping. If we're relaxing, we're at SAB!!

BCV's is one of the most sought after resorts. My view was of the service road with Epcot in the background. The fireworks were so loud, we enjoyed it the 2 nights that we happened to be in the room at that time. We are usually not in the room much.

No, it's not bad. We've had pool/road/Epcot/trees views, and we've never had a bad stay.

Judge for yourself. If nothing else, I'm sure you'll love the Epcot location.

Of course the Epcot view is great but you can't always get it. We've had both Epcot and service road views but we could still see the fireworks. The location is what makes it tops, and the pool, and just because it's so nice.

We really love it!

Calculate the total hours your gonig to be on vacation and then subtract the amount of minutes you will be looking out your window...

Does it really matter what your looking at?

BCV is a beautiful resort. The BC has a very attractive lobby and a nice store. The resort has easy parking and is in walking or boat distance to Epcot and DHS. Unfortunately, the views are average at best.

You need to decide what's important to you and choose your resort accordingly.

We learned to request the 5th floor villas to have a view of the fireworks and it was spectacular. Spaceship Earth was our nightlight every night, too.

However, even if I had a view of nothing, the proximity to Epcot was great. And we loved everything else about the resort, too, the theming, the color scheme, the Stormalong Bay, the restaurants...it's our favorite resort of all.

We dont stay at BCV for the view, but most of the time its still better than most resorts we have stayed at. This was a few weeks ago:

Very well spoken!!

Oh, and congrats on being smokefree for so long.

Jade1, beautiful pictures. We had a view of the pool, similar to the OP, we enjoyed the resort.

We've only stayed once, but it wasn't for the view, it was for SAB. We were not disappointed, and we had a parking lot view.

Talk about a view..... :goodvibes

I just wanted to point out that these pictures are really ZOOMED IN and that you are not that close to Spaceship earth Nor the Eiffle tower in France.

I was just about to post that those views don't look so bad to me! Thanks for letting me know I'd need to bring my 15 x 50 binoculars along to see those views. ;)

The views at BCV are not horrible, it's just that the resort was an after thought and built where the tennis courts and valet parking were located for the Beach Club. Not the best location for great views.

The landscaping is very nice and there are some good views, just not great views.

I looked through my pics and dont have any zoomed out, sorry. I think the point is there are views that are not just a road as many have had. We also have had many views at other resorts that no matter how your camera zooms-its still a tree.

As a general statement, DVC is not about great views - there will be some spectaular views at BLT (and you'll pay for them in points), and of course the Savannah views at VAKL, and the Boardwalk view at the BWV. In all cases these are bookable rooms, you know when you book that you are going for view.

SSR has some units that have a nice view of DTD - I've never found that to be worth looking at myself, but there are plenty of people who like that view.

BCV has a few where you can see Epcot, but they aren't really "Epcot Views"

I like looking at the trees at VWL, but they are trees. And there are nice views of the golf course at OKW, but its a golf course.

Almost all resorts have something similar to VWL famed "dumpster view" - a room that faces something where you may choose to keep the drapes closed. The roof is popular. There are a few units at BWV that apparently look into other rooms! Roads and buildings and parking lots are often seen out DVC windows.

If you want to be assured you are looking at something nice, pick a home resort with a bookable view and book early. But view is not important to everyone - other people will value the quality of the pool, the size of the rooms, the location, the theme, the memories they've made there in the past, low dues .....
