ATA is still flying, and, from a passenger perspective -- as inkkognito wrote -- it's business as usual.
If ATA's cash flow doesn't improve, the airline may need to reorganize and seek court protection from creditors some time next year. For the remainder of this year, I'd only worry about schedule adjustments, as the airline attempts to get revenue and expenses in line -- not anything serious like suspended operations. In fact, ATA is talking about adding service to Europe.
The airline industry is in trouble now. Keep in mind that United Airlines has been in Chapter 11 bankruptcy since December 2002. I'm still buying tickets on United. Delta is facing a crisis. US Airways successfully emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy around 10 months ago, with a $1 billion financing agreement, but US Airways is still struggling.
That doesn't mean the airlines are all going out of business, just that they're taking steps to stay in business -- even if it means they'll be a smaller airlines.
