Hi! I have noticed that on this board people seem reluctant to share pricing. While I understand that this is a personal preference this is also an information source for many people. I know that some people probley don't want to share pricing because disney changes pricing and they don't want someone to come back and complain that they were told one thing and got another. That said, I don't want to seem like the tacky bride on the board always asking how much things are. Its just we are having to budget and plan way ahead of time for our custom VR and I would like to get a ball park figure for what I want. And also I would like prices for different places so I can put together different scenarios for the VR. I have called DFTW and they have not returned my phone call. But I really didn't expect much when I stated our date for hopefully december 2010! We aint rich folks we have to plan early! ;) So I guess my main question is do you think it is rude for people to ask for or quote prices to help us far off-ers out?

I personally don't find it tacky, as long as you keep in mind, just like you said, that prices do change. Sometimes drastically, espcially dealing with Disney. Weddings and VR's are expensive, and require a lot of planning, so it makes sense to want to plan way ahead! I suppose many don't "advertise" their costs because that is a more serious side of conversation, and not the happiest of subjects? LOL There are lots of posts here especially about Photo and Video, where people share the costs required. In my opinion, ask away...everybody on here is so friendly, and nobody is forced to answer anything they don't want too. There's always PM's, if you wanted to go that route....hope this helps, and good luck with all of your planning!!! We're here to help! :)

Thanks I just don't want anyone to be offended when I ask. I appreciate wjen people post what things cost because it helps us get a grip on a budget. Thanks in advance for everyones help. This really is the friendliest bunch of people I have come in contact on the boards Thanks!

I dont think its tacky at all !!! I always love when ppl post prices you can ask me anytime i will tell you anything you want to know:goodvibes It really helps me to see prices and i know that everyone here isnt trying to know what kind of money we are spending just trying to figure things out for their own wedding;)

I don't think it is tacky either, it's a huge help when you are trying to get a preliminary budget going, but also consider that some people get different price quotes from people. For instance, I was told by my coordinator that there wouldn't be a charge for trading out my honeymoon photo shoot at Epcot, while other brides have been told that there is a fee.

The final word always comes from the vendor or Disney themselves of course, but when you are in the planning stages it's a big help to get an idea before you get your BEO. Ask away!

Grandma Linda, here. I would suggest that even if you are able to obtain pricing from people currently in the process that you ADD at least 30% to their figure to obtain your own, since your date is so far in the future.

I dont think its tacky and i am happy to share my details but can see that to some people that information is quite personal!

Also another thing to bear in mind is that the vast amount of other peoples prices for cakes, floral and food can be unique to each wedding. So be prepared for yours to be completely different! When i was planning i spoke alot with another UK bride who was having her wedding a few months before mine and her costs were totally different!I think

Thanks girls. I wish disney would put the price of EVERYTHING on the website. They probley don't because they would b changing it all the time. We have a while before our VR and I know things will change. I just hope we can do all we want to do when the time comes. Til then I guess I'll just be the nosy one on here! ;)

I dont find it tacky at all. I am planning my wedding and I have asked about $$$ as well. Everyone is so friendly on here that I don't think they will get upset..

I completely agree. My parents are paying for my wedding and so they want to start budgeting and I have hardly any information to give them. I'm still stuck trying to find a ballpark figure (to the nearest $1000 would be lovely) for a Summerhouse Rehearsal Dinner, but most people seem reluctant to share their prices :( I agree that it is personal information, and it's up to the individual what they feel comfortable sharing with others, but it would really, REALLY help to have *some* idea of what things cost. I promise I will post any information I have about mine in 2008! :)

Tacky is different to every individual….but I think more people would be open to PM you pricing info ….like for a specific item... a lot of people would be a bit reluctant to post budgets on an open forum....

I ask all the time, and hope no one thinks I'm tacky (I just want to be informed and not set my hopes on something to find out later that is way out of my budget.
I'm glad you asked b/c I really, really want to know how much Sarah and Fred (the MK wedding) spent. ;)

I think that when I start officially planning my VR I will post every penny of price information. Dh and I are saving monthly for a big blowout VR and I have no shame in sharing for everyone.
And if someone would PLEASE post the minimum for the summerhouse. I would really like to know this as well.

I just think budgeting is such a personal thing. Ballpark figures are one thing, but giving out every little detail from DFTW is another.

And the way Disney changes pricing (and is inconsistent with pricing from bride to bride), pricing and budget structures probably won't even be valid next year, let alone in a few years. My wedding has already passed, but for the people who have negotiated their pricing but the event is still upcoming, they can't really risk posting that infomation and having it questioned.

This is an open forum, readable by all - including DFTW staff. Personally, I think if you ask a very specific question about a specific item/venue/element, you'll have a better chance of getting an answer.

I have to agree. I think although Disney makes it out to that everything is cut and dry for custom events it is just not that way. Each couple had a different relationship with their planner, different venues (which means different catering staff) different floral planners, different amount of guets etc and all of those combinations DO change certain aspects of your budget. I think that since this is an open forum and ANYONE can read it, it makes it very difficult for people to share certain things in fears that someone may call dftw and be like "so and so on this board said she got this" i know sounds awful and hopefully does not happen often- but it does happen...just something to think about.

Now that being said i don't think there is anything wrong with giving round about general figures to help you have an idea of budget- in fact many girls helped me with that and I thank them and found that it really help me figure out what i wanted and what I could realistically afford. So if you need help please feel free to ask.
