Is AP discounts worth it?

We will be going in Dec and Jan. Maybe more if the discounts are good?
Should we splurge and get the passholders tickets? We aren't fans of the dining plan since we're not big eaters so that's not a big issue. We are fans of resort discounts though!

Well, discounts are not always guaranteed for AP, but I have saved at least $300 this year in AP room discounts at values. I stayed at POP for 6 nights in June and I am staying at ASMo for 4 nights in November. I did not get my AP for room discounts, but I am enjoying the extra perks.

Current discounts for AP for 10/3-11/22 and 11/26-12/24:
Value 25%
Moderate 25%
Deluxe 35%
Deluxe Villa 35%

Current discounts for AP for 1/2 - 3/8, booking by 12/3/11:
Value 35%
Moderate 35%
Deluxe 40%
Deluxe Villa 40%

Current discounts for AP for 1/2 - 3/8, booking after 12/2/11:
Value 30%
Moderate 35%
Deluxe 35%
Deluxe Villa 35%

Just remember that not all hotels (or hotel room levels) may be available for the AP discount. I booked my November trip when values were 30% off and I had to get a preferred room at ASMo because the regular rooms did not have any AP discounts still available.

I think it may depend on where you stay. We wanted to stay deluxe and it had become quite clear that there would not be a general public room only offer for President's Week (now, I may turn out to be wrong, but...), so I ran numbers. As of right now, I'm only getting an AP for myself (going back for Food and Wine in October with my mom), but depending on where things are at, if it looks like we'll be able to return in July, I'll get them for DH and DS, too. That said, even taking the price of the AP into acount, we're saving just under a grand.
