Is anyone planning (have planned) a trip REALLY far in advance?

I'm planning an Oct 2012 trip for myself, DH, and three sons, who will be 34 months (still free, baby!), 7 years 11 months, and the middle guy will be turning 5 on the trip, and it could be on a night we go to the MHP! We're all about Cars Land.
I'm still hoping to convince my sister to come along, too. Whether we have her as a sixth person determines where we might stay, as we would HAVE to get a suite and/or adjoining rooms. I'm interested in Desert Palm Suites, Kids Suite at Hojo, Ramada Maingate, and Paradise Pier, but open to learning about other places. PPH is more if she does not come, then we'd splurge on a theme-park room there.
I went to school in LA (Fight On, Trojans!), so we hope to spend a day in LA, too, and the whole area is relatively familiar to me. So I'm also open to flying into LAX, OC, SD, or Vegas. For example, I saw some Southwest Vegas fares that would be $350 cheaper than flying into LAX for the five of us, which would pay for our rental minivan. I would welcome the chance to spend a day on the Strip or on a San Diego beach before road-tripping to Anaheim.
Very exciting that the Good Neighbors should start publishing 2012 rates in a month, but EXHAUSTING to think I might have to continue shopping around for all the Disney deals and rate drops that occur throughout the year, dealing with changes and cancellations to possibly save a lot of money. I wish they'd offer early bookers a deal and I could be done.
I'm working evenings at a rotten job to earn money for this trip, and I have $3300 so far, so feeling good.
Nice to find some other early planners!

I am not sure if you added me but...my family is planning a Disneyland/Maui trip in July, 2012.

Tomorrow I am booking our room reservation/park tickets through Disney for 4nights at the Disneyland Hotel. Yikes!!! We have a lot to save! Our vacation will be 2 weeks total (4 nights at Disney and 10 nights in Maui).

Thanks! :cutie:

It's official! We just purchased our plane tickets to Ca today for our trip in Feb. 2012. We will be staying at The Dolphin Cove. First timers to DL so very psyched!

Good for you! :goodvibes Come to think of it, I don't recall The Dolphin Cove. Where is it?

I think I win for lengthy trip planning. *points to signature*

Although other than this year's trip to DL, I'm planning on for October 2012. Can I still be in the thread? :cutie:

10 years!! I thought I was bad planning a 25th anniversary trip to WDW in 2014! You really made me feel much better. :goodvibes I'd make a ticker for it but I still can't decide on more days in summer or less days in Nov. ;)

Of course :goodvibes I think you win at planning tho LOL

Ok I added a new catagory for spiderdust and pinkbudgie! hahahaha

Add me to the list. We're going Oct. 31 2012 for our 10 year dating anniversary!

:runs to go make a ticker:

We always plan about a year ahead for our trips, which lately means that while we are at the parks, we start planning the next trip. Our house needs renovations, our kids need clothes and they're so skinny cause we don't feed them unless we're at Disneyland so we have enough money to keep up the habit :rotfl:

I am planning a trip to WDW for Christmas 2014 to celebrate my 40th birthday.

The Dolphin Cove is a timeshare that is on Orangewood (?) ave. We traded through our RCI timeshare. I guess it a block away from the Toy Story parking lot.

Oh, ok, that's why I haven't heard of it. That should be nice. :)

You can add me to the list. WDW last 2 weeks of Aug/2015. It's going to take me that long to save up the money for the trip. I'm still toying with the idea of going the first week of Dec/2015, but it would mean that I would have to pull the kids out of school for 6 days. So I'm hesitant to do it.

No kidding, it is a lot more expensive than going to DLR. Especially since I have my heart set on the Poly. ;) DH and I are both teachers, so going in November like I would like to means pulling us out of school! It is hard to miss that much. I have a feeling we will end up doing summer.

It costs us double to go to WDW for 14 days compared to driving down to DL for the same time. Because my younger son was diagnosed with a severe learning disorder recently, I'm reluctant to pull him out of school for more than a couple of days at a time, now that he's entering grade 2 in Sept. We are also heading back to the mouse the end of Sept for a quick trip that the kids don't know about. Safe to say that after the Sept trip to DL I'm going to be Disney'd out...NAH...have to start saving and planning for the 2015 trip and start haunting the WDW boards. I must be a complete DISney addict. I'm already starting to save for the 2015 trip, while planning the Sept trip to DL.
