Is anyone planning (have planned) a trip REALLY far in advance?

We just really don't have a choice but to give ourselves a year to save. Rather than put it all on a credit card (which I'd rather do ;) HAHA) we're going to try to save cold hard cash.

I'm seeing that there's no way to reserve a room yet anywhere..and I assume I'll have to wait to buy tickets too?

We're heading in June 2012.....depending on a variety of factors, at the minimum it will be me and my 2 girls....and at the maximum, it will be me and my girls, my sister & BIL with their 4 kids and my parents. Yup...11 of us!

I'm hoping for all of us to go!

We leave next week for 6 days at DW and a 7 day Royal Caribbean cruise. We started planning in 2009. And honestly one of the reasons we did RC instead of DCL was because at the end of 2009, we were able to put down a deposit on the cruise and begin paying for it. That worked out well for us. We booked DW in Februrary and had to wait 6 months with that planned too. Its has been SOOOO hard to wait this long but I know the trip will be worth it. We are going to start planning a DCL trip after we get back for 2013. I know we won't be able to book or anything. We will just have to be disciplined to save.

I am (tentatively) planning a trip for myself and my boyfriend (his first Disney trip!) to DLR for August 2012! I'm just starting to dip my toes in, but I know what I want is about 5 days (MINIMUM 4 but I wouldn't feel like I got enough in...) with a cheap hotel that at least serves breakfast, preferrably across the street but I can deal with further as long as it doesn't take more than 5-10 minutes to get there by shuttle.

Does anyone know how often shuttles to/from Good Neighbor hotels tend to run? I want to follow the tips I've read on here about going early in the day, heading home for a few hours in the afternoon and coming back in the evening, but I don't know if dealing with the shuttles that many times a day is going to be a pain in the butt timing-wise.

Added you two.

Kayleigh..The shuttle will seriously be a bit of a hinderence. You may find that some of the closer hotels will save you the money that you would've spent on the shuttle just merely by being across the street. (Even if you spend more money by staying there..kwim?) Try Desert Inn and Suites. They are directly across the street..we got a MAJOR savings there. They also serve breakfast :)

Thank you for the tip! I've been doing more research and I think I'm definitely going to go for a hotel across the street, especially with my mid-day break strategy! I've been thinking the Tropicana Inn & Suites, the pricing seems great compared to other economy hotels even though it's a moderate hotel according to Disney's website!! I'll definitely look into Desert Inn & Suites though!

Good, I'm glad you decided against shuttling. It wasn't bad when I was just married..but with my kids there's no way I'd attempt it. I guess you two could survive LOL But yeah, it's just so much easier to go back and forth this way.

I'm excited your BF is getting his first trip :D

Planning a trip back to WDW for our 45th wedding anniversary  Hope to go on our anniversary in August 2012, we are just days away from our 44th...but I just hate the weather in Florida in AUGUST :headache: I wish when we were planning our wedding ...way back when... we would have taken into account our love for Disney :rotfl2: and chosen a different month to get married in :lmao:

JC (who did spend her 40th anniversary with her Prince in WDW)

I've been planning our WDW trip since 2008. We're not going until Sept. - Oct. 2013. LOL! We're planning on spending 2.5 weeks in FL. We don't just want to do WDW. I really want to hit up the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. And we also want to do a 3-Day cruise. So much to plan! And I'm planning all this as well as all our DL trips.

Wow, the patience level amongst everyone here is amazing. I booked a September trip in January and it has been pure torture having to wait. I wish it was like when I was a kid and my parents didn't tell me until like a month before we left. ;)

Breaking forty days tonight!!! :cool1:

It's felt like four years!

I know what you mean.....we are still over 300 days away....and I think I'm worse than the girls. LOL Of course I'm just planning and planning...trying to make it as special as I can for them so it keeps me perpetually excited. UGH LOL

Can I throw my name in the ring? We are planning an extended family trip to San Diego and DLR in June 2012. Here's the "guest list": my parents, my sister and brother-in-law, my two nieces (ages 2 and 5) and one nephew (age 9) and my wife and I. Whew! There will be nine of us spending 3 nights in San Diego and 4 nights in Anaheim.

My wife and I live in California and the rest of the family will be trekking all the way across the country from the Boston area. It will be the first plane ride ever for my two nieces. We haven't even told the kids yet. I'm hoping my sister will let us tell them at Christmas...

In the meantime, I've been working on accommodations in San Diego (found a 4 bedroom house on VRBO). My sister has requested a suite in Anaheim so I'm leaning toward the Anaheim Residence Inn Maingate.

The big question mark right now is plane flights. I would REALLY like to find a direct flight for my family, preferably leaving Boston in the morning. JetBlue seems to be the only game in town for direct Boston to San Diego flights but they haven't released their schedule for June 2012 yet. Like everyone else on this thread, I'm just kicking my heels and killing time. :)

You sure can :goodvibes You're added :)

I looooove JetBlue. :lovestruc I do hate that you can't look up flights so early. We're not flying this time, but last time I was DYING to look up pricing!

Sounds like a really fun trip! Lots of Disneyland Newbies (assuming your nieces haven't been, of course)!!

Planning August 2012 for My son's early birthday trip and my college graduation. Staying at either the residence inn maingate or the fairfield inn. Can't wait : )

Have you checked Virgin America? I doubt they have their schedule yet, but I do know they service Boston and San Diego. Although I am not positive they service from Boston to San Diego :confused3

I have flown with them several times and love them.

Is anyone in here doing the 'surprise' thing? I can't remember if we've discussed it.

I have almost a whole year I have to keep this secret LOL

Yeah, I'll be surprised once we are on the plane flying to WDW in 2014. :rotfl:

We've never thought of surprising the kids about DLR. :confused3 We've been going every summer for the past 4 or 5 years. Now they are almost 18 and we had to surprise them that next summer they can't go with us and need to get jobs since they will be in college. But hopefully we'd be able to take them in Nov. or Jan. to see Carsland. Don't feel too bad for them though. They are going this year on the senior trip to Washington DC while DH and I have to stay home and work. ;)
