wvrevy said:Obviously, I'm one of the "political" posters on this board, so take this explanation for whatever you feel it's worth:
You have to understand, all of us are feeling angry and completely helpless right now. You can't turn on the television without seeing the devastation, and it seems like it took forever for the government to actually get in there and do something. Because a lot of us are already politically inclined, we have turned our frustration to the people responsible for the lack of response, and we want answers. I'd wager that the vast majority of the people on those threads have already donated money in one way or another, and most of those - including myself - are planning on doing still more once things settle down and they start needing more than just cash.
BTW...I was the person that "hugsquared" decided to get personal with on one of those threads. I didn't report the post, no matter how insulting it was, simply because I realize that we on the "liberal" side of the fence are a long way from being the only ones feeling that frustration. Things will settle down, and there will be plenty of time for blame, and plenty of blame to go around. Until then, it hurts nobody for us to discuss what went wrong, nor for the apologists to blame anybody they can save the man at the top.
But yeah...if you don't have thick skin, those threads are probably good places to avoid for the next few days![]()
I respect everything you said. However, it actually does hurt some to discuss it. Doesn't mean you all shouldn't feel free to discuss away. So the advice to stay away from those threads is good for those people that it will just cause further anguish.
