Is anyone else skipping 2020 disney ?

We changed our Aug 2020 trip to Aug 2021, waiting for discounts. Also canceled Nov WDW trip. Too much of a mess, switched to Universal. But if things don’t get better in Florida that trip may be canceled too. I’m Canadian and doubt our border will open if the Covid numbers keep going up.

We live about 35 miles from Disney. We haven't been to the parks since the last week of February and have no intention of going there in July or August.

Right now, I've got one night booked for the DVC Moonlight Magic in mid-September and 4 days for birthdays in December. If these COVID-19 numbers keep going up, I'll be cancelling.

It's not only that we have 11,000 new cases in Florida today, but the experience won't be there. I like a late breakfast in Epcot and then off to another park for the afternoon and yet another after dinner. The current situation doesn't sound like fun to me. I don't want to be locked to one park for an entire day. I want to see parades and concerts and fireworks. Yes, I know I'm spoiled, but at my age (a healthy 65+), I've earned being spoiled.

We had originally booked Christmas 2020 but decided to cancel that since we weren't totally confident that things will be calmed down by then and all the stuff we enjoyed (fireworks, shows, etc...) would be back in place.

I had rebooked to March 2021 at Universal but with the current state of things I've cancelled that as well. I have no faith that Florida will get it's act together as far as covid goes at this point. We're aiming for Dec 2021 at WDW again --- hopefully there is a vaccine available --- but I guess time will tell...

As far as 2021, we feel like we are priced out.

I hear you on that - the rates are ridiculous! One of the things that has me hanging on to Nov is I booked ASMo, so I’ve locked in an affordable rate. Still may cancel, but not ready to call it yet.

In the other hand, travel will open back up at some point, and Disney will want people back. Plus the economy will probably take years to recover, depressing demand. Disney is going to offer discounts or incentives to book. Assuming DH and I remain employed, we might be in a position to take a reasonably priced trip at some future point.

We went in Feb 2020 and had plans to go in Oct for MNSSHP this year but we canceled. We're hoping to go back in May but will only go if there's a vaccine. Too many family members have serious health issues for us to risk it. We also love the fireworks and parades but won't go until those are back, otherwise it's not Disney to us.

We cancelled July 7-13. Bummed but we had to being from NY with all of the quarantine rules. Hopefully April 2021 is better

I always go in January. So, I didn’t skip 2020, but I will, for the first time in forever, skip January 2021.

You are NOT alone.. we do not like the new set of rules . We are diehard Disney fans with 30 years plus under our belt. But Iam sorry we wont be playing the new game . We have no problem with walking away from Disney (I cant believe Iam saying this). Disney will have alot of people that will go and will truly enjoy their stay..Disney will not miss us or our money! I do hope it does come back to "normal" , as of right now our plans are Oct. 2021 for the 50 th birthday party! My fingers are crossed!!

My 50th is 2022. I am praying that things are back to normal and I can go for my 50th. I won't go with the mask restriction in place.

We are skipping disney and going dark side this year for about half the cost. The bonus is the ap’s we got have an extra 3 months on them so they will cover next summer as well.

I've got Park reservations for 6 park days, so I'm not going to cancel.

I really want to go in October to celebrate my BIG 65th Birthday!

Yeah, realistically, I'm pretty sure we will end up cancelling.

Our March trip was cancelled two days before we were supposed to leave. First week of August has been in the cards since last year. We don't care about reduced park and resort offerings (we have APs, will be staying at POP on an All-Star Sports discounted rate, and got a cheap Southwest flight out of our March cancellation credit, so our outlay is minimal), but we are somewhat worried about COVID. We suspect we already had it in February, but will be getting antibody tests next week.

Not sure what we'll ultimately decide to do, tbh. We were hoping to spend some of the vacation scouting neighborhoods for a vacation home.

Postponed our April trip ( was to celebrate my March retirement) to October, have now changed that to April 2021; hoping we will be able/want to go then.

End of May trip canceled but held out hope for August trip. We booked both trips last September with bounce back September 2019 with free dining. Canceled or rather Disney cancelled our May trip. Still held out hope for August, but with all the changes and the virus still running rapid, I’ll be canceling this trip also. I’ve already canceled our flight, thanks southwest for the travel funds good till 9-22.
I’m not booking another trip until things settle down.

Moved our June trip to Aug, and with masks etc. I just cancelled. I was going to re-book for January, but even that's looking dicey. Now my DD is thinking about starting a family, so maybe I'll just wait until I have a grandchild to take! I wait forever for each trip, for a grandchild, I'll have patience!

Visiting Universal instead of WDW this year (but staying DVC), and Aulani next summer. Won't do WDW parks until experiences are all back. If Disneyland opens we'd do that (we have AP's currently frozen and we go enough that the diminished experience isn't as big a deal as WDW).

Wanted to do 2021 Marathon weekend but too few bibs and too much uncertainty about park reservations, etc. So fingers crossed we will do fall 2021, marathon 2022, summer 2022.

I just called WDW an hour ago to cancel the remainder of my AP (that would have been good until May 2021) and cancel our October split stay. Technically, I made this decision two weeks ago, but couldn't bring myself to make the call until today. Each day, those tallies from Florida felt like a Very Clear Sign.
I am still hanging on to our perfect March reservations for hard-to-get rooms for six at BC and WL CL in case of a Covid miracle.

Add me to the list, I refuse to pay those prices for a limited experience. Now I am not planning on a disney trip till 2022?
Disney has slowly been losing the "magic", now it has really lost it, hopefully it will come back.
