I have been going to Chef Mickey's for the past few years and I have not been happy with the place. It's dirty and the food has been horrible. If it was not for my 5 year old I would not go at all. My sister was also talking about the poor quality of the place. The one thing she was really bothered this last time was there were birds flying around. All I keep thinking is the birds doing something in the food. We will be coming down at the end of August and I think I will skip the place.

I agree, I wasn't crazy about the place either, but the kids we were with liked it a lot.

I've never been to Chef Mickey's and I have no desire to go. I guess I just don't 'get it'. :confused3

i love chef mickeys!! ive never found it dirty, and i dont know what you mean by birds flying around.
the food is just your basic buffet cuisine. i suppose if you were looking for something fancier it wouldnt be the place. but then again i dont find the food at any of the disney restaurants all that special:confused3 .
we go there because its a great time and we get to eat.

I have to say we weren't that impressed. There are many, many people who wouldn't do a trip without going but we're not in a hurry to go back.

We had a very late breakfast ADR thinking we'd get some great character interaction, unfortunately it didn't happen. We were seated in a little room off to the very side with a large table of very obnoxious people, I know not WDWs fault but it made it hard to enjoy. They closed down one side of the buffet and really weren't replenishing the other side.

It was OK but not on our list for a return visit.

Breakfast was a typical buffet the last time we were there. Birds do fly around in there - it IS open to outside with the monorail running through it. I would think that if the health department (which MUST do checks at the restaurants) is not concerned about the "opening" for birds to come in, then so be it. If they were concerned, Chef Mickey's wouldn't still be open for business. Plus, the food is covered by the "sneeze-guards". Ugh...that makes me think of another concern, just where buffets come into play!!!

We went last year for my daughters B-day. I was excited to go but was totally disappointed leaving. It reminded me of a run down Golden Corral. Below average food and I agree about it "feeling dirty".

We are going for vacation in exactly a month and we will not be going there. Too many other character meals that are better.

Reading this is making me question whether or not to make an ADR here for my son's 3rd bday next year. :sad2:

He is really into Mickey and I have heard that there is usually great character interaction here.

Where is another good character breakfast that includes Mickey, Minnie and Pluto? And is also clean and has good food?

Now, I have to rethink my ADR :scared: again before I make me res in a couple of weeks.

The food is average at best, but I have booked for our last two trips in order to not have to stand in lines to meet the main characters while in the parks. My children both liked it, but Ohana's breakfast was superior in food quality and character interaction.

We went in 2006 and really liked it. We're going back this Dec. and have ressies for breakfast. I've never been for dinner, though--so that may be different--but we really enjoyed it--and I never noticed it being dirty.

We are trying it in Oct for breakfast..I hope we like it!

I say you have to try Chef Mickey's at least once! Its lots of fun. But, after the first time, we're okay not going back. We feel very rushed there, and its SO hard to really have time to enjoy your food. I think thats my biggest complaint.

Not to hijack,

But what other character meals have Mickey, buffet, or family style? And preferable dinner? What are everyones suggestions?

Well after this talk about Chef M's I have had a change of heart, if I wanted to see the birds I would watch Hitchcock:rotfl2: so I think we will see the birds at the Animal Kingdom and eat at the Tusker House,;)

We are going to try it in Oct. It will be our first character dining experience and I've been really looking forward to it. Hope it isn't too disappointing :/

Just give it a try!

We have been once for each trip on our first night. Food is ok- you can find a few items that are really tasty. We've always had fab character interaction and it sets a great tone for our vacation. NEVER thought of it as dirty and I am usually all over stuff like that. I will keep my eyes open though;)
We've only been there for dinner.

We aren't happy. Chef Mickey's used to be fantastic. We would always start our vacation there, great breakfast, a kiss from Mickey.

Now, the food is disgusting. And, yes, the place is filthy.
Terrible service also.

Was very clean when we went there and no birds. The food was average, kind of like Disney fast food almost, nothing to write home about. We would only go again if we had to grab a quick bite.

FYI, we went in 2004.

Love Chef Mickeys :worship: It has good food. I never said great.
The Atmosphere is The best :cool1: This resturant in my opinion spells Disney like no other.
