Is anyone else NOT doing Easter this year?

we love easter. it is the most important holiday of the year. if it wasnt for easter we would not have christmas. not trying to be preachy, just putting it into perspective. my kids have learned the true meaning of what it means to be christian. sorry the rest of you dont feel the same way. easter is the biggest celebration of the year. your savior was raised from the dead. you are saved. wow, what a reason to celebrate...i am not born again, or a fanatic, just a regular catholic. christ the lord is risen today...alleluia...it is a day to rejoice...it really is

thank you. I've only been going to church since the summer.
I really do enjoy it and feel fulfilled.

I can rejoice and think about the true meaning of Easter without having to endure my mother's insults and my cousin's whiny banter over ham and lasagna. God would want it that way.

It is kind of sad. THis year I didn't even get the Easter decorations out. Have been out of town or working with my Mom selling her house and doing her taxes for 3 weeks.
My son lives 250 miles away sent him a gift certificate to his fav. restaurant, youngest daughter went to Florida with friends family(will be back at 4;00 am) middle daughter moved to her own apartment last week and works from9:00 amto 11:00pm today. Feeling a bit blue. Got some little items for each. They have grown up so fast. Middle daughter asked if I was going to bring her E basket to her house so it would be ther when she woke up. Ha-Ha. My Mom is coming for dinner ( I love to cook) but it will just be the 3 of us. My Dad passed away last summer. Sister and her family are visiting oldest daughter 200 miles away. Just a beautiful sunny relaxing day. Can't really complain about that. Happy Easter to all whether you believe or not!!

Our faith celebrates the equinox, which was almost a month ago, so this weekend is just another weekend for us. However, Earth Day, which is next weekend, has become an almost de facto holiday.

We're just hanging out and going to a craft fair in one of the town squares. Being what my daughter refers to as a "devout heathen," I've never been big on such holidays, but always got dragged to the in-laws for too many people crowded into houses that weren't big enough for half as many. I worked shifts and always hoped to be working.

Since moving to Florida, I have an even better excuse. Everyone asked if we would be coming "home" for the holidays and I had to think for a nanosecond before replying "NO!"

Christmas was great at Epcot and Easter will be almost as good having a hot dog in the town square.

If I have any religious beliefs I haven't stumbled across them yet. :confused3

The family I nanny for is Jewish and I really enjoy learning about their faith. The kids go to a Jewish preschool and when they have "family" events I always attend. I love the stories the rabbis tell. Maybe I like them since they are geared for preschoolers! I don't know if I would actually convert, but I might look into the classes sometime. Everyone in the congregation is so nice I am sure I would like being more involved.

I have a card for DS and a card for DH. DS wants to wait until DH gets home from work to open his card. DH has been pouting that DS gets all the Disney Dollars, so both of them have Disney $ in their cards. :)

ITA!!! Easter is not the bunny!!!

Nothing here. DD's with her father this weekend, so I'm flying solo. I was invited over dbf's parent's house for easter dinner, but he declined for me (without asking me if I wanted to go), so...I'm home and bored. At least I get to pick dd up in a few hours.

OK, it's great that you're filled with the spirit and enjoy Easter. That's wonderful for YOU.

Just please try to keep in mind not everyone feels the same way as you do. Your post makes some assumptions that aren't true for everyone.

That being said, I hope you have a very nice celebration.

It's really just another weekend for lots of us non-Christians.

It would be for me too, but my family's mixed.

Most families seem to be these days. My DH is a non-practicing Methodist, and I'm just nothing. I was raised Catholic. Neither of our families expect us to do anything today.

DH & DS17 are in Bath, England. I understand DH bought DS a big Cadbury chocolate bunny! :goodvibes They will go to Evensong~

I went to a beautiful sunrise service. Went to DMIL's gravesite to deliver some flowers. she really loved fresh flowers. No big meal for me. DFIL moved away a month ago, so I will fix some fish 'n' chips later on.

I do miss hiding eggs & I make fantastic baskets. I have bought things for when the guys return in May~

We really never do Easter. I am Jewish ,my husband is not. So it is really not a big deal here. My kids know there is no Easter bunny. With that said, each year I do fill plastic eggs with candy and have a hunt for my kids and their friends. That is the extent of Easter for us. We are going for a friends house for dinner. If we didnt go there, we would be having Fat Free hotdogs for dinner LOL :)

Happy Easter to us all! For the first time, the boys allowed me to get by with baskets and no egg hunt. (The news was going on and on about the risks of eating hard-boiled eggs this year) :confused3 Since we're trying to keep the house picked up and cleaned, as it's going on the market in a week or so, I thought this might be the year to slack off a bit on the tradition. My two teen Ds's were OK with it, I think. I did indulge them with some really juvenile candy selections, like Batman and Power Rander eggs, filled with candy. The 18 year old loved that! We've been working in the yard all weekend, so it has been good to relax a bit today! :sunny:
